Hi tiredemma,
I think a big question for you will be
"How are you going to cope with shift work and children?" "When are you going to do all your academic work?"
The old faithful is always "Why do you want to be a nurse?"
"What previous experience have you had of nursing?"
"What transferable skills do you think you have?"
Strengths and weaknesses is always a good one as it tend to demonstrate insight and self-awareness.
How's that?

slapheadsrock · 07/11/2005 10:46

Just be yourself. They are looking not just for academic qualifications, but a lot at your personality. Show them you are a people person, and how easy you are to get along with. Important thing in Nursing is being able to relate to people, and give a good impression in the first couple of minutes.
(Speaking as a Nurse of 13 years!!!! :O)
Have fun.

I was asked.

'what do you think a student nurse does?'

They may also ask about current healthcare issues, why you want to be a nurse, what qualities you have that make you think you would be a good nurse.

Good luck!

sallystrawberry - I am sorry that you were asked about your childcare arrangements in such a tactless manner.
It should have been explained to you that there is a high wastage among students with children who start and then have to give up because they have problmes with childcare. Many students are returning back to the workplace having been at home with their children and find the transistion very difficult.
I guess your interviewers were merely trying to establish whether you had considered the difficulties involved.
They do not know you and would have no way of differentiating one interviewee from another in the short space of time they have to speak with you.
Honestly , you would be surprised at how many students are shocked by the amount of time and work involved in a pre-reg. course.
