HI everyone my DS1 will be 4 in a couple of weeks and I am stuck for presents. He wants a fire engine (his god mummy) is getting him that and a helicopter (my mum is getting when she finds one. Been looking looking and looking) apart from that he wants everything else he sees but not really. People keep asking me what he wants and I don't even know what to get him myself so looking for some great ideas from you all. Presents others can get him and that I (well we - my husband and I can) get him.

If he like fire engines then maybe some fireman sam toys? Obviously theres a fire engine, but theres a helicopter too and loads of other stuff too add to a collection?
Or a garage set the type that has lifts ramps etc, then you could ask someone else to get some cars for it too?

We had the same problem when our Ds turned 4 a few months back I gave family all my ideas and I ended up completely stuck.

Does he like dressing up? Arts and crafts sets are always used in my house then they can give pictures/paintings to grandparents so you wont end up with tonnes in your house :-)

Hope that might of helped, good luck.

My ds2 had a fireman dressing up costume with a fire extinguisher - he loved that. They also love torches, construction toys ie lego, knex etc, things you can put together with a screw driver (and take apart). Ds3 has a video camera (ELC) which ie quite good and scooters are quite in atm.

All that said, if he is getting the things he wants, could you get him shoes or clothes that he needs. I often use birthdays to get a really great outfit and footwear that may be a bit more expensive than I would normally choose.

If he is into vehicles, mainly fire engines and helicopters could you bulk it out a bit by getting him some things like tshirts with fire engines on, book about fire engines or helicopter, if he likes puzzles can get fire engine puzzle etc?
As for helicopters there is a mickey mouse one if you are having trouble finding helicopters, we have that one but may be it is too young for age 4, or postman pat sds toys has the special delivery helicopter

What everyone else said.
Or a road playmat?

A lovely aunt got this for ds for xmas. A big hit with him and his big sister.

Have you looked at some of the Playmobil stuff - I have just got DS the ambulance and police motorbike and he loves it. Hopefully it will last a few years as well.

We really appreciate vouchers as well (toys r us / elc) if people would be comfortable to give them, it's nice to let him choose something for himself and spreads the presents out for a few months.

Duplo fire station, other types of toy cars such as Roary, Lightning McQueen, dvds, railway set (I may be wrong but I think almost all kids love them), play dough, nice crayons which after drawing you brush with water and get paint effect (in art shop), musical instruments, games like large Snakes and Ladders and others, sticker book about fire engines, book about how fire engines work, other books ...

Fireman Sam books to carry on the theme at bedtime?

Duplo/lego is always good and it doesn't matter if more than one person buys him some.
Hand puppets?
Hobby horse?
DVDs / CDs?

How about a pop up tent? There's one in the entertainer for £15 includes torch and drinks bottle...my ds uses it as a den, rocket, cave, aeroplane etc. Train set? Brio or other wooden one is great and last years-we have one from when I was a child. Toy castle with knights, dragons etc. we got a great wooden one from Burford House, Tenbury (I think you can order them online) they also do a fab pirate ship.
