Did you do anything special for your child's 10th birthday?

Just wondering really if 10 is considered a 'special' birthday?

Dd1 is 10 next week. She's having a swimming party in a few weeks time (they were booked earlier and she doesn't mind waiting). Dh and I are still sorting out presents. She really wants her ears pierced so that will be one of her presents and she's also keen on a remote controlled helicopter lol! Plus a few other bits and pieces from her sisters.

Did you do anything different at 10? A special present or anything like that?

A decade, I can't believe it! Where did that time go?!

I never really did, because DS's birthday is the same day as his Dad's, and DD's is the day before theirs, so there's no way to avoid joint celebrations - but when I was a kid the 10th birthday was a big deal - you got to go out for a meal with the parents without your sibling, who stayed home with a babysitter. It was lovely - wish I'd carried on the tradition.

By chance we happened to be in New York for DD's 10th and we had a blast! Coincidence. But a very happy one.

Have you heard of Bigfoot Treasure Hunt Company? My twin boys, just turned 11, went on a commando type 'mission' hunt with their friends in Cannizaro Park (in Wimbledon) - and had a really good time..

No, not a special one.

The only special birthdays are 18 and/or 21.

Ds is 10 and we didn't do anything different. DD is 12 and we may well do extra celebrations as she reaches 13 next month.

To be honest, both mine are summer born so I've been able to wait and see what other Mums do first, and no-one seems to treat 10 as a milestone.

DD went to Splash Landings (Alton Towers) for her 10th birthday followed by a sleepover for a couple of friends.

DD1 won't be 10 until next year. But I didn't think that 10 would be a special number. Perhaps 13?

I hope not, DD is having a party in our local park and that's it. She is getting a hair thing which, according to the box, has 10 different functions [anything to get her to brush it face]

am going to watch this as ds is 10 at the end of next month and was wondering the same thing, haven't even planned a party yet and not sure what present to get either!

Dd 10 today, would have liked to do something special, but dd just wanted some friends around for the day. It's funny as I remember 10 been a really big thing for me and but the family didn't. Dd on the other hand just sees it as another birthday no big deal.As for presents dd didn't really want any thing as sure so struggled their.

SD felt it was a big deal going into double figures - we agreed on a first sleepover which seemed to hit the right note.
