2 in cloth?!

DC2 is due in July, DD will be 20 months and has been in reusables from about 2 weeks old. I often feel like I am carrying around more stuff than other mum who use disposables (who have all gone back to more handbaggy type bags, where I have full changing bag plus wetbag). Is this going to get worse with 2 in cloth? How do you manage to not be gragging a suitcase round with you? [cgrin]

I was afraid someone might say that! I always have more stuff than I need, but as I am mostly going to be on public transport, I always worry about getting caught out! Am going to have to be very strict with myself! (no chance of going out without snacks for DD - she eats constantly!)

Terries -- can be adjusted for baby or toddler. Just need different wraps.

Else, one cloth nappy each and one disp each. By the time you've got some spare clothes and wipes and plastic bags for waste products, still hefty but at least somewhat reduces the load. Not that often I really needed to do 2 changes per child while out & about.

I loved terries when DD was smaller, but we went through a phase of her just getting up and walking off while I was changing her, so I moved over to AIO/fitteds. I wonder if she would be better again now I could actually explain things to her a bit more? Would def make things easier as could share boosters/liners etc between them.

Dispsosables are definitely easier to carry around, I just don't want to end up using them loads. You're right tho, DD doesn't often need more than one change while we are out.

When DD2 was newborn I gave myself a month of her in disposables (had DD1 in disposables for her first 2 weeks). So initially, just carried a couple of disposables for DD2 and had one washable and one disposable in the bag for DD1. To be honest, it meant for the first weeks I used more disposables than I wanted to for the baby but hardly ever used them for DD1 because we were never out long enough for her to need two nappy changes (she was 16mo).

Now I carry two pocket nappies and an emergency disposable, they can both wear a size 4 disposable so just keep one with me. Usually DD1 won't need a change whilst we're out unless we're out ages, which means the washables just mostly get used by DD2, and I use my emergency size 4 disposable on DD1 if I get caught out.

I don't take a wetbag out any more, it takes up too much room, I just use a normal plastic nappy sack and shove it back in the change bag. I have no spare clothes for them, though I do keep spare sets in the car. I have a small tupperware style pot which I keep breadsticks and rice cakes in and I also shoehorn into the bag a small suncream, a sippy cup they can both drink from, a bib and a muslin. I've stopped doing washable wipes too, can't fit them in, just have a half empty pack of wipes with me instead.

Not being able to fit very much in means I've been caught out a few times and have had a few comedy trips to M&S with puke covered baby/toddler to buy a new t-shirt/babygrow and then gone to the babychange room to put child in said t-shirt/babygrow but other than that I've been surprised how well I've managed with half the stuff (per child) that I used to carry. Hopefully DD1 will potty train in the next 5 months or so and I can start carrying even less Smile

I generally go out with 2 nappies for ds2 (6weeks) and a nappy and disposable for ds1. Warmer weather makes thug s easier since I just have tshirt for ds1 + babygro for ds2 for spares. Add a pack of wipes and a muslin I can fit that into a smallish satchel along with a drink and snack bars for ds1. We use carrier bags for soiled nappies but just wet ones we simply bind up tightly.
Hani g said that I am so looking forward to the day when ds1 REALLY goes on the potty/toilet...
