Which sling?

I already have a baby bjorn active but want another sling for daytime sleeps. My DS is nine weeks old and will not sleep on his own during the day (in hs basket or bouncer or pram etc...) and I need to be able to get things done in the house and out.

Which slings have you found work really well? Especially in this warm weather I am thinking of a sling where most of his body is covered to protect him from the sun but where he won't get hot.

Advise please?

I used a Moby wrap and loved it, as did my two boys. The baby is really well-supported so it's great for allowing you to get stuff done. The baby is pretty much totally covered - you can even pull it up and cover the head. I had a summer baby and used it on some warm days with ds just in a nappy or nappy and vest.

I used a kari me sling around the house with both DDs and loved it. Quite similar to the Moby wrap I think.

I would swap the Bjorn for a soft structured carrier like a Beco or an Ergo I think, they're meant to be better for the baby and more comfy for you! (Manduca maybe?) I have a Beco and love it, DH uses it too sometimes/

In terms of a wrap I would perhaps look for a woven as against a stretchy, as they can get really hot. Perhaps something with linen, to be cool? I have Rosalinde which I'm finding I use a lot at the moment.

Another vote for Karrimee, I had it in four colours! Used every day until PFB was about seven months, still used regularly until he was a year and actually still keep one in the car boot just in case now he's nearly two.

He was very colicky when he was tiny and used to spend five hours a day in the sling, I loved having him so close too.

My Closer Baby Carrier worked really well for me. DS was born at the end of March last year and I used it throughout the summer, it was great. He slept really well in it and it was extremely comfortable. Very similar to the wrap around ones (karrime, moby etc) but a bit less fiddly as it has adjustable rings. Only thing was it got a bit warm, just have to remember its like wearing another layer for you and for your DC so you have to dress (or undress) accordingly!

This was also great when he got a bit bigger and could face outwards, and apparently you can turn it around and use it as a back carrier too for toddlers, we will be investigating this one before our hols in a couple of weeks Smile

Also, as an aside, a few weeks ago my DS was very miserable due to horrid cold and after trying everything else I put him in the Closer sling (although he is now huuuge 1 year old) and he calmed down instantly and went to sleep Grin although my back had something to say about it later....

Mine was about £45 ish from a seller on ebay but worth every penny without question.

Thanks for all of the advice.I've been reading the reviews on mumsnet and think I am going to go with the ergo.
Many thanks Smile
