Under arm hair on my 8 year old

My 8 year old has just grown some under arm hair which seems terribly young. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to discuss it with her and what we should do about it? So far she hasn't noticed, but it's only a matter of time before she does. Any advice would be welcome.

Is she aware of what the next stage is? My DD is nearly 10 and desperate for some underarm or banjo fur, she is also keen to start her periods.
IIWY, I would make sure that your DD knows what could possibly happen soon. Is she developing breasts and pubic hair? Also, do ensure she is clean and fragrent, children can be so cruel about those who are a bit whiffy.

Yes, now is the time to talk to her (again?) about the way her body is changing and will continue toi change and why.

My DD is 9, doesn't yet have any underarm hair but but is starting to get pubic hair. We had a talk yesterday about what we are going to do when her boobs start to grow. One of her friends has started wearing crop tops because she has sore nipples and DD wanted to know what would happen to her.

Agree completely about ensuring your DD is fragrant - not a problem for my DD yet - but it will come.

Dd 10 in 6 days has some pubic hair and very tiny bumps for boobs but no underarm hair yet. She got BO last year in the heat of the summer, and has also need to wear crop tops on and off for the last 18 months due sore nipples. Things have been very slow so plenty of time, but at the same time a great time to start talking about her changing body.

Can recommended this book, lovely gently way of talking about changing girls bodies. The best bit is their is no sex ed in there if your dd or you are not ready for that.

Thank goodness it's not only my DD. She's 8 and has full on (if sparse) underarm hair. I have no idea whether this means I can expect her to start her periods soon (I was 13 so thought I had plenty of time to prepare her) or what other changes she's about to undergo. Her 5 yr old sister is thrilled to point out any changes to her and I don't want her to become paranoid if her friends aren't at the same stage.
