My ds has got a really sore rash, possibly eczema where the palastic part of the disposables fastens ie right at the top of his thighs. Ive had him to the docs and have been given all sorts of creams but nothing seems to be helping. The doc suggested i change him to reuseables but i dont know where to start. I was sent a lending kit by the local council and have 2 weeks to try them but i have no idea how to put them together (they came in a big bag with about 6 different makes and i dont know what goes with what). So i decided here was the best place to ask.
I have twins but i think (unless it gets easier) ill just keep ds in them

check out the websites for the nappy brands you have been given for advice aand try to let your ds have nappy free time every day - poor little chap!

he gets half an hour every time i change his nappy. at the moment he is spending more time without a nappy than with 1 lol. The other thing is it seems to get worse when he has a bath even though im not putting anything in the water. He has very sensitive skin but it seems to be so much worse at the moment because hes teething

Reusable user here but there are sooooooo many different types around I couldn't begin to advise you without knowing more. It is pretty easy and most things will work together. Basically you need a waterproof layer and an absorbent layer. And a liner, paper or fleece, is handy for catching the solids.

If you want to have a look at cloth nappies, there are some great websites like Cheeks and Cherries, Babybots, Twinkle, and Kittykins.

I've found Lansinoh to be the most effective thing against any kind of rash - DS1 was very intolerant of things in most of the creams we tried for eczema, like mineral oil for a start and possibly sodium laurel/laureth sulphate.

Make sure the rash isn't caused by thrush as that can be very persistent but easily fixed.
