Drying hair

Drying 16mo DDs hair has become a total nightmare.

When it was just fluff, a quick rub with the towel would be fine but now it's getting longer it needs a lot of drying resulting in huge screaming fits and an all out fight on the bathrooom floor.

I don't think it's long enough to blast it with my hair dryer but even if it was, I'm sure there'd be a screaming fit too as she petrified of it.

Any ideas?

I do blow dry DD's hair and I have from a similiar age as your DDs. DD doesn't always like it but it doesn't last long, I normally put her on my knee and give her a book to flick through to distract her.

You could always do it earlier in the day and let it dry naturally if you prefer to avoid the screaming matches entirely. But it depends on whether it is a part of your bedtime routine or not.

Do you wash it every day? If so, I would cut that back. I wash my DD's hair quite infrequently (only when it gets food/whatever in it). She's 3 and has a bath everyday as she likes playing in it but we keep her hair dry.

I dry both of my boys hair with the hairdryer and have from a very young age. I'm sure their hair is probably shorter than your DDs.

My DDs (2 and 4) have fairly thick hair, and I just leave it to dry naturally. Can't be arsed with the hairdryer and I don't think they would sit down for it (certainly not 2yr old anyway)

Thanks all...sounds like the hairdryer maybe the way to go with a book/toy for distraction

We only wash DDs hair once a week usually on a sunday as we go swimming during the day.

A bath is part of her bedtime routine so sunday evenings we wash her hair as well, but I think I might try washing her hair when we shower at the swimming pool earlier in the day and then I can leave it to dry naturally

DD usually has bath at bedtime but on Sundays (hair wash night) I wash her hair before tea so it's more or less dry before bedtime. She hates the hairdryer (runs out of the room if I'm using it on myself) so I wouldn't even attempt to use it on her.

I have to wash the twinnies hair most nights purely to get the food out of it! And I used the hairdryer from about 1yr onwards o they are used to it.
