Hi
I realise with all things ecezema related its all hit and miss and trial and error and specific to the individual but my dd (6 months) has ecezema all over her body which comes and goes (still waiting for referral to dermatoligist)
weve had the lovely sunshine but my dd has had to be in the shade permanently as really worried about suncream making her ecezema worse. have tried uvistat as recommended by chemist but it caused a reaction where i applied a tiny bit to her exposed hands and and bottom of her legs Sad.
Just wondering if any other mums have had success with any suncreams as i can see my spending a fortune trying them all out!

i've not bought any yet, but got some recommendations on a thread here. at this age though, i think keeping her in the shade is still the best option, or using lightweight long-sleeved cotton tops and wide-brimmed hats.

Definitely keep in the shade at this age if at all possible, but I found that using Aveeno Baby sunblock (SFP55) over a layer of Aveeno Baby moisturiser worked well for my DD who has eczema.

Last year we tried many types of suncream for DS and he broke out in angry red blisters for all of them but this year a vegan friend gave us some of Jason Sunbrellas to try and so far no reaction and we have been using it for days.

Buy it from Amazon mind, it cost me £12.99 from a health food shop attached to Tesco, mutter mutter.

Hi

The sun mousse is fab, it's only factor 30 and you have to buy online but has proderm technology and works on eczema and v sensitive skin

MadameCastafiore · 22/04/2011 21:13

Aveeno spray on - only one we use on DS and it is fab - don;t have to rub in either and it doesn;t run into their eyes when they swim or sweat as most sunscrean does.

You have to get it online as they are not licensed to sell it here only in the states. They do a factor 85 now that ypou can spray on a wet child and it still works.

thanks everyone will keep these suggestions in mind. will stick to the pram shade and hats and cotton clothing but would so love for her to have just a tiny bit of sunlight the poor thing, we are going on hols on sunday.
we went to the park yesterday and i felt myself feeling all jealous of all the lovely babies with their peachy arms and legs out and my poor dd being covered from head to toe, just dont want to risk making her skin worse though, poor little scratchy baby Sad

The Eczema Society has an info sheet on suncream here.

I'm using Forever Living aloe suncream on my 15 m.o. who has eczema. Before that, we used Green People which was fine but thicker to apply. I've put both on the red raised bumpy bits of skin (we're currently using steroids on it) without any noticable effects.
