Anyone feel the same about dead squirrels?

Drove to work this morning and saw two dead squirrels on the side of the road. Last week I saw a dead fox.
On both occasions I've had a sudden surge of panic and emotional fear for my children - particularly for DS2 who's just 1 and 'still a baby'. Is it something to do with being small, furry and defenceless?
I desperately felt like going back home to check they were safe.
Am I mad? Anyone else do this sort of thing??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

not about dead squirrels, but keep imaging myself tripping whils holding ds and hurting him and stuff like that. can't watch some movies since became a mum

I'm the same jedy, I have those moments when I'm carrying 13mo DD down the stairs. I just see me losing my footing and her falling in my minds eye. It scares the living bejesus out of me

I used to get exactly this WSM, it's horrible.
Now that dd goes to school I worry that she will somehow get out of school without anyone noticing I know it's highly unlikely but still, I worry

that's why mums rarly hurt them. they see the danger before it comes. it made me wondering if others have some strange instincts like i do. must start new thread. BTW my mum did trip over holding me. i didn't notice anything and was loughing and her knees and elbows were sore

it was years ago and i was a baby

Thank goodness I'm not as neurotic as I thought! I too feel this way, it can be anything from seeing kids playing on their bikes beside a busy road, to reading an awful story in the newspaper. I get this incredible urge to go to ds's Nursery and just hug and hug and hug him.

There are many things I can't watch on TV anymore since becoming a Mum. Any films about child abduction or murder or accidents.... can't watch them.

When ds was little I always used to have these horrible graphic fears that I'd step back and not realise he was lying on the floor behind me and I'd crush his head.

I did fall down the stairs with ds once. Was odd as your normal reflex is to put your arms out and fall forwards to protect yourself, but with holding ds I obviously didn't and automatically fell backwards. Ds came out of it completely unscathed and I seriously did my back in - was in agony for days afterwards.
