Nursery rhyme CD/books in Spanish

Can anyone recommend nursery rhyme CDs which come with a book in Spanish? I would really like to be able to learn some Spanish nursery rhymes to sing with my son but don't know where to start, and I need a book so I can read the words as I learn them. It would be a plus if I could get it in this country or online but I could get it from Spain at a push.

I've got one like the one you want, it's called "Pio Peep" with traditional Spanish nursery rhymes. It comes with the lyrics and nice illustrations, and a CD. Unfortunately, the CD doesn't have all the nursery songs, only about half of them because some of them are in Spanish and the others in English. It's a bilingual book. I got it on Amazon.co.uk

There is another one I really like (and my son too!) called "Sing, watch & Learn Spanish". It doesn't have traditional nursery songs, but all the songs have Latin rhythms from different parts from South America and it is very good for introducing all sorts of vocabulary. However, it's a DVD with music videos, not a CD. I bought it in Grant & Cutler's (a great book shop in London with books and stuff in all languages), but I have also seen it on Amazon.

By the way, I read in another post you said you had DVDs of Dora the Explorer with the option for Spanish. I agree with you that it's really difficult to get hold of DVDs and good books in Spanish here in the UK. Could you let me know which are the titles of the Dora DVDs? My son loves Pocoyo, we watch it on Youtube, but I have yet to introduce him to Dora the Explorer as I haven't found them on Youtube.

Hi, thanks for that, we have ordered Pio Peep from Amazon! I also must visit Grant and Cutler's since we are in London.

Most of the Dora DVDs only come with French and Irish - when I get home this evening I will look through our collection to see which ones came in Spanish. There are also two 'Little Einsteins' DVDs which come in Spanish - Little Einsteins I find fairly bizarre but my son aged 2.9 really likes them and sings along, plus has repeated some of the vocabulary so I guess it works. They are cheap to buy on Amazon so at least you can try one out and if you hate it it's not too expensive. One is called 'Mission Celebration' - the other one I'll check out this evening, don't want to tell you the wrong title.

I have to say that with both Dora and Little Einsteins I choose them because they were available in this country and in Spanish rather than because I particularly liked them, but both have been great hits with my son. How old is your son and are you in London? I have searched to no avail for a website which lists language options on children's DVDs.

Many thanks for your other recommendations, we will check them out.

My son is 2.3, and we live in London (W5). I'm a native speaker, my husband is English but speaks Spanish. We are using the minority language at home method.
I've got a couple of Winnie The Pooh DVDs with Spanish that I bought in HMV. We haven't watched them yet because at the moment he only likes short episodes and these DVDs are 65-72 minutes long, but I've noticed a recent interest in Winnie The Pooh so I might be introducing them soon to see if he likes them.

If you buy DVDs from the Spanish Amazon site they will have Spanish as an option.
I know how hard it is to find suitable material for bilingual kids in Spanish. The best CDs we have are the ones the nursery in Spain made themselves!
This is also very nice: www.cdbaby.com/cd/juanluisdammert

Ah, apparantly Spanish Amazon doesn't exist - try the Corte Inglés website instead.
Your best bet is to ask someone in Spain to get the 'coleccionables' from the newspapers for you. Many newspapers give away DVDc or CDs for kids with the paper or it only costs a euro or 2. Also some newspaper kiosks sell the remainders of these collections for 1 or 2 euros.

The Dora DVDs we have with Spanish as an option are
Puppy Power
City of Lost Toys
Map Adventures

and the other Little Einsteins ones are
Team up for Adventure
The Christmas Wish
