Little old ladies are lovely sometimes (nice things said about ds)

We see lots of threads moaning about strangers being critical of children. Well, today has been a good day for some reason. Took ds to a cafe for lunch and as the lady on the next table was leaving she leaned over to say how lovely ds is and how proud I must be. Which was nice of her especially as I'd been hissing at ds 'remember to keep your mouth SHUT when you are chewing' imagining he was irritating other diners!

Then in the supermarket a little old lady came up to me and asked what part of heaven I'd found ds in because he was clearly an angel. Extremely sweet but a little misguided as he is certainly NOT. Grin

ds really is not an angelic child, the people were just being very nice indeed. But I now have a resolution to remember to tell other parents how great their kids are when I'm out and about.

(ds was dead chuffed in the supermarket because he'd been pulling funny faces at a crying baby who had then quietened down - ds was convinced he'd cheered the baby up.)

Grin. Kids love to make babies smile, don't they?

Yup, I do too. Am often to be found in the supermarket queue smiling and winking at babies. Fortunately no-one has ever taken this the wrong way... Grin

We bumped into our neighbour with his baby on the way home. Baby was in a grumpy mood so ds was trying every trick in the book to amuse him. Got a smile out of him!

the other day I was in a soft play place and I tracked down the mum of an approx. 6 year old boy and said "can I just say was a lovely considerate boy you have - he's being really patient with the younger children on the slide and isn't making a fuss when they push in front of him". And she burst into tears! (of happiness).

aw, that was a lovely thing to do, Llanarth.

EnvyIm just jealous because my usually lovely DS (nearly 4) had a stranger (another mum) give us dirty looks the whole time we were in a softplay cafe today.

I thought she was just weird then she errupted with "do you think you could tell your boy to stop hitting my boy" Shock.

I had been pre occupied alot with my DD, 16 months who climbs furniture instead of padded stuff and my friend was trying to tell me about a new house she had bought that day so I really seen nothing.

I asked DS to say sorry to the boy and he did, then the mum, her friend and their two boys left, faces fizzing.

Just thought id share as Im usually complimented on my DS as he is so friendly and chatty with strangers, kids and babies. Im still feeling down about it which is daft!

So yes, it is lovely when wee old ladies do that. Im going to hang around outside a shelter housing complex tomorrow in the hope one of them will compliment my kids Grin!

Sorry you had an off day, quick, do try the sheltered housing tomorrow. Grin
