Hey Kelly first time using mumsnet, what a coincidence, DS has been exactly the same for a week. Every nappy change, every time I dress him, we get kicking and screaming. Went out with some friends this morning to a local farm, and the last hour was spent whingeing, I even wondered if he was ill but now we are back home all is fine. Tyrants huh Helen x

Give them a forbidden item e.g. your iPhone or something very valuable and breakable to play with, they'll be absolutely good as gold while you change them.

totally sympathise, mines 18 months and kicks and wriggles every time. Especially if there is poo involved. Its the one thing that really drives me potty. Flufffy is right, giving him something he's not usually allowed, or something new and interesting is the only way to stop DS from going bonkers.

my friend potty trained her DD at about 15months because she was such a pain about nappies. Wouldn't work for everyone but worth a try maybe? If she hates having her nappy changed that much then don't do it..

Second the potty training idea there. My dd started kicking up a fuss at 11months. She would roar when just heading towards the changing mat. We had a potty so sat her on it and it made her so much happier. She still wears nappies but uses the potty during the day too. She doesn't mind the changing mat at all now.

I hope to get her nappy free when the summer comes and she will be 18 months approx

My DD is 2 too and was a total pain in the ass for nappy changes, it got impossible for a while. DD loves stickers so I took a chance and drew a sticker chart for her and she loved it. Now I say 'remember, if you lie on your mat nicely you get your sticker' and she does. Who'd have thought a sticker chart would bloody work!!
