Am not pg but if I do take the plunge am considering reusables. Which are the best and what do you have to do with them.
Do you have to have a bucket and soak them or can you check them straight in the washer.
I want something simple like an outer and an inner but nothing too bulky.

You are very well prepared to be thinking about nappies already!
We use tots bots on my DS, which we've found brilliant. Only downside, as you said, is that they are a bit bulky. I've tried some others that are a bit lighter but don't seem to work so well!
The nappy lady website has loads of good advice and you can do nappy trials now through your local council or I think babykind do them.

I've never soaked, and newborn poo seems to wash out easily, even when its a bit dried on! DS is a bit bigger now and real food has made his poo rather nasty, so we use paper liners to catch it so itt can just go down the loo or in the bin.

Hope that helps, I never thought i'd be chatting about baby poo on the internet!

I started using them on dd2 when she was about 3 months old and I absolutely love them. We use tots bots and kissaluvs. The kissaluvs are really cute and slim but nowhere near as absorbant as the tots bots. I have never soaked them, but do have a pail. They only cost a few quid from boots, unless you are a sucker like me and go for the heffalump one ;-) Their are also these really cute nets (look like the persil tablet nets)that you can put in the pail which allows you to just throw them in the washing machine, without having to touch them again. Just add a few drops of tea tree oil inside and that help to sanitize them. I say go for it. I am far from being a eco-mother, but have found these easy to use and cheaper than disposables. Be warned - the wraps and nappies are addictive to buy, especially the girly ones. TBH most of my friends and family laughed when i mentioned that i was going to use reusables, as i am a former material girl, but it has worked out really well. Good luck !!!

We started with cloth when dd2 started solids - couldn't quite face dealing with 100% breastfed poo!.

Love them and agree that it is easy to become addicted. My favourites are Tots Bots Bamboozles - lovely and soft, not as bulky as a standard Tots Bots and very absorbent. These are what I use if we are going out anywhere as I can be sure of no leaks! Second faves are Happy Heinys (pocket nappy) which are as easy as a disposable to use and come in gorgeous prints (can't wait for summer to show them off!). Not quite as reliable as the bamboozles but will last for 2hrs generally.

I don't soak either - poo just falls off if the nappies are fleece lined (or you use a fleece liner - keeps the bum dry too) or you can use disposable liners which are flushable.

Oh - I use a Motherease Rikki wrap with the bamboozles as these are slim fitting and easy!
