What buggy for a 2.3 year old - overwhelmed with information so help!

Not sure where to post this... My DD, now 2.3 has been in a SilverCross pram which converts to a buggy but I'm finding it a real pain as it is too big (takes up the whole car boot - Skoda Fabia), too heavy and the wheels stick out.

I want to buy one of those buggies or strollers that collapse really small and will fit in the car, don't weigh a ton but which will also come with a raincover etc. I've looked at reviews but find it all very confusing.

Is anyone happy with their stroller?

Ah-ha, I've just been in exactly that situation! A friend recommended the OBaby Atlas to me, she had got a different one but thought this one would have been better as the seat reclines. I got it for £55 from John Lewis (available online and free delivery), and am very pleased with it - good value and seems a decent design. The carrier bit underneath is easily accessible - my sister got a cheap Argos one but said it was a pain to get anything into or out of the carrier. There seems to be never-ending variety of colours and slight differences in design - for about £80 you can get different colours, and a little zipped pouch in the hood, but I decided it didn't seem worth the extra money. It comes with a rain cover. Do test it out before buying of course. My DD is 18mo so don't know what your 2.3yo will make of it. Mothercare do some of the pricier versions so you could test it there.

I have the Silver Cross Fizz, and it's excellent, really light weight, can be lifted with one finger! comes with rain cover, folds easily, can't fault it at all.
Also it has a carry strap so you can fold it up and carry it on your shoulder if you wanted to, in a tight situation when pushing it isn't an option... on public transport etc. My 2.8 yr old DS hardly goes in it now, but it's been very handy (had it over a year) and I never take it out of the boot of the car in case we ever need it.
Oh... and I recently took off the cover and bunged it in the washing machine and it's good as new

I had a maclaren quest because it can recline (not flat, but comfortable when toddler falls asleep) and umbrella folds (good for cars and public transport, and also on airplanes). We used it a lot, on public transport, etc. McLaren triumph also reclines but doesn't have leg support.

Thanks for your responses! I will definately try out the ones you've suggested. I went into a shop today to try out a few and the assistant sang the praises for a McLaren Techno XT but it is £200!!!!! I also never thought about when my DD may no longer want to use the buggy (WalterFlipSticks) so don;t think I'll spend that much.

We have the McLaren Techno XT but comparing it to friend's McLaren Triumph I don't think the extras we paid for are really worth it. I spent a lot of time bidding for 2nd hand McLarens on e-bay but eventually bought one new as they seem to keep their value really well. So if you buy one and don't use it for long bear in mind the "brands" do hold value well if you wnated to sell it on.

Have a look on ebay. We bought a double maclaren for 40pounds, it was a spare at someones granparent house, so never used. Was practically brand new!

I had an obaby for DS too and found it fab. For the money it's better than a lot of others - only the maclaren beats it really, but that's on durability. If you have a car then you probably don't need the maclaren.

The only thing about the obaby was when I was looking the colours weren't very nice - I think the Mamas & Papas umbrella fold buggies win on that count.

I would get a cheapish McClaren. 2.7 year old doesn't need to recline imo. I would check out fridayad, ebay or nct sale and buy a good-quality secondhand one if I were you.
