Crying tantrums , DS 3½

the angry tantrums I can deal with.
But sobbing? I just want to pick him up and hold him tight.
Last night DS wanted to sleep in the wardrobe!
He can't, it's dangerous, a big heavy oak wardrobe.
He cried and sobbed, couldn't breathe at one point, for best part of an hour
Normally bedtime tantrums, I would just walk out, close the door.
But I couldn't leave him alone with the wardrobe!

First thing he said this morning was wardrobe

Ended up in the big bed in the spare room
How am I going to deal with this tonight?

Sorry no advice but some sympathy - DS 3.7 gets ideas like this in his head and it can be very difficult to convince him otherwise especially at bed time when he is very tired. Likewise he can wake up still chuntering about the thing that upset him last night... I think their memories are getting good! How did it go last night?

hi
Well he didn't mention the wardrobe!
he kicked up a fuss about going to bed, but no tears.
He wants books, he wants teddies, he wants to brush his teeth again, he wants milk, sometimes he asks for food! He's not hungry, just stalling

His routine has really been up and down over the last couple of weeks, we were on holiday in Oz, then Grandma and Aunty were here, so a couple of late nights, and then the clocks changing. So I'll cut him a bit of slack for now!

I need to get him back in a routine, but he's also having a problem doing what I say !

Good news about the wardrobe! Sounds like he's over tired... my DS does the stalling thing too. A few early nights and quietish weekend will maybe get him back to normal, then he shouldn't be so defiant
