Spanish tv / childrens dvds

Hello,

Does anyone know what is the name of the main spanish childrens' television channels? I was going to get satellite tv so that my 2 sons can watch spanish tv programmes but I don't know if I'll be getting the correct channels.

Also, I've tried getting dvds of Peppa Pig, Maisie etc but they don't give you an option of watching them in spanish so does anyone know of childrens dvds that have a spanish option on them - suitable for a 2 and a half year old and a 7 month old?!

Thanks,

Nikola

We had Clan TVE when we lived there and of course Disney channel. We used to receive from an American network too called univsion.

Sorry missed the DVd bit, go on ebay to find Dvds or amazon, com .

We have a Maisy DVD that has a Spanish option, we got it from Germany though (German was priority).

We also tend to find a lot of childrens programmes on YouTube, again, I mainly look for German, but I am sure you will find them in Spanish too - Barbapapa is one we watched in Spanish. Many of the longer films come in 10-15 minute chunks though (try Pipi Longstocking, my 2 1/2 year old loves it). I am sure Spanish original ones will be on there too.

My DS loves Dora and these DVDs have an option to watch them in spanish.

Region 1 DVDs have a Spanish soundtrack as they're for America.

A lot of Disney films come with quite a random selection of languages, e.g. English, Hindi, russian on Dumbo (I think). So check the back of the box.

Is there an Amazon.es you could order direct from?

Also, though I loathe them, the majority of the little einstein DVDs come with French, German, Spanish and English as standard, which might suit the 7mo.

There's no Amazon.es. And I think MIFLAW means the baby einstein ones, there are also little einsteins which are suitable for preschoolers but they don't all come with Spanish as an option. Similarly, not all the Dora DVDs come with Spanish - although some do, and it's impossible to tell on Amazon unless someone has written a review stating which languages they come in. The Maisy DVDs we have (bought in the UK) don't have Spanish, they have French, Danish, Swedish and a few other north European languages. My experience has been that Spanish language DVDs are hard to come by in this country and I have spent quite a lot of time looking. However you can find things on YouTube in Spanish, for example Pocoyo and Bumba.

If you are interested post another message and I can let you know exactly which Dora and Little Einsteins DVDs we have that come with Spanish as an option. My son is completely besotted with Dora and I think it's good for language learning as it is very repetitive and encourages interaction - I have learnt a lot from it! I also like the fact it has a strong female character as the lead. However the singing is diabolical in the Spanish version!

I've just noticed that you are the same person who asked for Spanish playgroups in East London - have you been speaking Spanish with your sons since birth or is this a more recent thing?

Nightsdrawingin - ive just recommended Spanish Amazon on another thread and you may be right, it doesnt exist! - try the Corte Inglés website.

Try Fnac in Madrid. I've just had a look and they will post to anywhere.

Amazon doesn't exist here here in spain due to a net book agreement in place, luckily they post here free of charge for orders over ?25 :) You'll find Fnac & others expensive. I don't know if there is any way of working out easily if the DVD's in the UK have a Spanish option.
