I'm stunned by the Welsh initiative-Foundation stage until age 7, free breakfast clubs plus financial support for students is incredible, non repayable grant of up to 9000.
I'm moving to Wales!!! but why cant we have the same in England?

Well in England the foundation stage finishes at age 5, during this time 'play' is the foundations for learning. In some parts of Wales they are piloting the foundation stage until 7!!!! (depends on what value you think of play) In England children are tested with SAT's at different ages KS1 plus KS2 these results are published locally and nationally to see what schools are achieving in these particular tests. However, they do not test on happiness or contentment[ahock]

Oh,thought you meant that.
Very pleased to hear it. My dd is 4 and I an very big on play.

That's put a spring in my step.

Mallarkey · 28/10/2005 20:15

It would put a leap in mine!
Don't you have SAT's in Wales? I'm just presuming because we do them everyone does?I wonder what happens in Scotland too?

Yes I think so (am a bit new to all this though and never listen when people start droning on about assessments and stats anyway. Zzzzzz)

Master's degree. Usually a one year jobbie after a regular degree.
Thankfully work will sponsor me though.

It does seem to have the right ethos at the moment with regards to education. Has this anything to do with the Kinnocks?? Haven't heard what either of them are doing at the moment?

I'm glad I moved to Wales as I love it here, but I have to say didn't know anything about this! Wales seems to be doing so much that some stuff gets left out the news. Got a link for this, anyone?

(grants of £9k? I had to apply to Somerset last year as we moved, looking forwards to next year!!)
