Can I sell/loft the pram now?

DS is 13 months and has been walking since January. I haven't used the pram/buggy for 3 weeks now and I really want to either eBay it or put it in the loft for a potential DC2. Will I miss it at any point in the future?

Does she not nap at all during the day?
If you go on a day trip somewhere will she be happy to walk the whole day and not need a rest or a sleep?
What if she is ill, would you need to walk to the doctors with her?
Has she started the tantrums yet?!? What if you need to walk somewhere and need to get there at a certain time and she is having a paddy?

I'm just getting rid of my buggy now and DS2 is 3, as he has only just stopped having an afternoon nap. He sleeps in the buggy if we are out.

Do you drive a lot?

DD started walking at 12 months but we are still using the buggy at 2y9m & fully expect to be using it for a few more months. She walks a lot but it's handy to have somewhere to pop her into, particularly when we go out for the day.

Our DD went through a phase of refusing to walk when he was about 20 months old (even though he'd been walking since he was 1). It did coincide with cold weather but I'd keep it handy for a bit longer.

I still use a buggy occasionally with my 3 year old - if we are on a day trip somewhere for example. even if she doesn't want to sit in it, it is always handy to put the bags/coats/picnic etc on!

oh yes, miss the storage facility of a pram!!!!

AKMD · 29/03/2011 21:37

Good points. DS goes to nursery on weekday mornings and has his one nap there. On weekends he either naps in his cot at lunchtime or if we are out he will sleep in the car on the way back from wherever we are. We do use the car a lot between home/nursery/work but for walking-distance trips I take DS on his trike and he gets out and walks when he wants to.

So, maybe not eBay but the loft feels reasonable.

My 4.5yo still hops in our double buggy sometimes! We do walk a lot though and I tend to walk pretty fast so his legs get worn out Blush.

I'd keep it for a while yet, walking in the rain or when they are ill and whingy isn't much fun for anyone.

AKMD · 29/03/2011 22:03

I hadn't thought of the rain! Blush Obviously getting carried away with the beautiful weather over the past few weeks, maybe the rain tomorrow will remind me that I live in England...

If it doesn't rain tomorrow, it goes in the loft. At the moment, it is in the hall, along with the trike, the changing bag (still huge) and the back carrier so something has to give!

Can you not put big pushchaire in loft and buy a cheap buggy?

Just going back to the way you can sling anything on a buggy - going on the school run I often have 1 schoolbag, 1 playschool bag, 2 lunchboxes, 2 show and tell items. Have also been leaving gloves in the shopping basket so that when 3 year old screams her hands are cold I can produce the gloves. This is without the painting/random models/sculptures that they may create during the day that require shipping home Smile

Ds is 16 mOnths and there is no way I could get rid of his buggy yet.

He has a small buggy which lives in the car or porch and it makes life much easier.

Justalittleblackraincloud · 30/03/2011 11:41

We don't use a buggy, but do use a sling. DD is 20mo, and we'll be using it for a good while yet. She's a confident walker, but still can't walk miles and miles. And if I'm in a rush to get somewhere, she has to come up. I'd never get anywhere otherwise!

Underachieving · 30/03/2011 11:55

Fair enough if you're not using it and it's in the way. But hang onto it just in case. If you pop it in the loft you can always retrieve it if you change your mind.

I think each mum finds thier own way with thier babies. I have "essential" items of kit I don't ever use. I think everyone does really. If yours is the pram then there's no point looking at it, letting it irritate you. Be your own woman and do things your own way.
