Can anyone recommend a brand/type of washable wipe please?

I use Cheeky Wipes. If you want to use washables then there's no reason why you can't make your own really easily but Cheeky Wipes are good for a nice complete kit and the starter bottles lasted me from Baby Show to Baby Show!

We used old terry towels cut up & progressed to using DP's cut up old socks Blush

Do you just use water or do you add anything?

i've got green baby cloth squares and don't know the brand but a few double sided ones for really messy wipes! fleece one side and terry on the other. people have mentioned flannels before. i used to make up a solution of water with various things added but had to change it regularly so now just use tap water. when their skin is sore you can use chamomile tea. in the past i've added aloe vera gel or baby oil, tea tree oil or lavender or a bit of baby wash.

I just used water.

I used to use bought wipes which were double sided terry and fleece and they were great but I needed about a million of them and so they were too expensive. Eventually I went and bought a big fleece blanket from Ikea for about £3.50 and cut it up and made about 40 wipes. Now I have enough to have some in my change bag, some by my change mat and some in the wash. I would never buy them again now, its just not worth it.

I use water in a spray bottle and if they have a sore bum I make up a batch of very dilute chamomile tea to use instead and it works great.

When I had a newborn I had damp wipes in a MonkeyFoot bag ready to be used, but now they are older I just take out the dry wipes, a spray bottle and the dirty, wet wipes go in the MonkeyFoot bag with the dirty nappy ready to go into the nappy bucket when you get home.

I bought 10 fleece ones from Ebay for £3.00 posted, but realised they were just a cut up blanket so did the same as Sally, I got 50 wipes and 10 liners out of a £3.99 blanket from Dunelm Mill.
I either keep them damp in a little make-up bag that was £1.00 from Primark or use a spray bottle.
Have also just discovered the chamomile tea trick, so am using that at the moment.

I use nappies by minki wipes. Nice and big, with terry on one side and fleece on the other. Yes they are not cheap at 50p each but mine are still going on kiddy no.2 and are still in great condition so on a cost saving compared to disposable wipes I've saved a fortune.

Fleece are great for standard changes, but for poo you just cant beat terry towelling for grabbing and cleaning. Fleece and disposable just smear it about imo - sorry if TMI Wink

I used to use a solution I made up myself. Chamomile tea bag in water, add a sploosh of olive oil and a couple of drops of tea tree oil and then some sweet orange oil too. Poor DS as he is second time around just gets water, apart from when he had a rash and then the solution helped.

I did exactly the same as SallyScuttles re Ikea fleece throw for ds2 and they did ds3 aswell, and are still going as general mopping cloths now. Best £3 or so that I ever spent.
I used them with a spray bottle full of a mix of water, babybath and lotion (about 80% water, 10% babybath and 10% lotion), and just sprayed it on their bots before wiping.

Would cut up cheapie towel or face cloths be ok do you reckon? Tempted to have a go.
