Fleece liner on fleece yes or no?

DS2 keeps getting nappy rash, the only thing which seems to clear it is slathering him in sudocrem overnight.
I have been reverting back to disposables for this as I use Bumgenius, during the day (soon to be joined by Charlie Banana and Bambooty, this is very addictveGrin)
but would rather keep to cloth so can I use a fleece liner on fleece nappies? Have heard yes and no.

Any nappy friendly rash creams/remedies also welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

It depends if it's stay dry fleece. If it's two layers of stay dry fleece then no. If it's jersey/cotton fleece then you can. I don't know which bumgenius are I'm afraid.

Have you tried using camomile tea to clean him with? I use that with a couple of drops of lavender and tea tree oil.

Are the other nappies you're getting all in one? If not fleece or wool wraps can help.

Do you give him some time to kick about bare-bottomed between taking the old nappy off and putting the new one on? I've found this really effective in preventing nappy rash and letting it heal too.

Thanks Fling, but I don't know either, babykind says not to use fleece with bumgenius and they seem to be reliable.

I have some teabags that are rose, chamomile and lavender would they be ok (they are certainly not ok to drink!)

Cheeks and Cherries have a 3 for 2 on Bambooty Smile

Thanks to you too Bertie, I do, he loves being naked!
It does help I'm also really careful and wash and dry him thoroughly before putting his nappy back on but it just seems to come back again over night.

I would trust babykind on that one then.

Yes, I'd use up the teabags for that, especially if they're undrinkable.

Also, stick him on the floor on a towel with a bare bum for a little while every day. When DS starts to look a bit red that's what I do, and it seems to head it off at the pass :)

Be careful with nappy-free time. DS has just precision pee'd on one of the toys dangling from his play arch. And we borrowed it

sudocreme made DDs nappy rash worse!
I was on holiday and using eco disposables and sudocreme and she was in a bad way. GP gave us Timodene which cleared it up.
Sudocreme is really thick and greasy and a nightmare to get off things - I know - DD1 smeared it all over herself, her clothes and the sofa a while back! I would be very wary of using it with fleece liners unless you are prepared to ditch them.
Anyway I can say that I use fleece liners and BG and have no problem. Most of my pockets are fleece lined. I used paper liners with DD1 but have converted to fleece with DD2 - so much nicer and softer. I love these minky ones
I also use chamomile tea bags to make up a wipe solution but that one you mention sounds fine too!
Kamillosan is a light not too greasy nappy rash cream and I also like the Weleda Chamomile one.

Grin Fling DS2 has done many rogue wees!

Thanks Smac, I only use sudocrem on my home made fleece liners not my posh ones, those minky ones are really lovely.
I only use sudocrem because I had amassive tub given given not really through choice, so I might give something else a try thanks for the suggestions.
Might try leaving him nappy free all day tomorrow well school hours any road, I hate him being sore makes me feel a bad Mummy.

I use fleece liners in dd's Bumgenius when we need to use cream & haven't noticed any change in performance or damage to the nappies. Usually use Bepanthen.

Pingpong · 23/03/2011 23:25

you know what the more I think about it this fleece on fleece being a no no is absolute nonsense!
DD1 is still in nappies at night and I boost everything to the max as she power wees about 5am. I use various nappies but she doesn't like fitteds as she says they are too tight - silly but at almost 3 you kind of have to listen to their little foibles. So I try and get as much as possible in to either Baby Beehinds or Wonderoo (originals) I frequently put a flip stay dry insert as the top layer inside the wonderoo (which is fleece lined) then cotton, bamboo, hemp blah blah.
I have also used a flip stay dry insert inside a BG v3 when I couldn't find the normal inserts after wash day and it was fine as well on DD2 during the day (don't find BG work at night).
for a while DD1 was insisting on the pretty pink spot minky liner from that link as well as all the other fleece that was inside her nappy! so some nights that would be 3 layers of fleece Grin

Thanks everyone.
Have ordered some weeleda cream but also had a revelation last night and used aloe vera vaseline, so between that the fresh air and the chammomile wipes he is looking much better.

He has also been in fleece on fleece at toddlers and no leaks so so far so good.
