Trousers to fit over cloth nappies?

Anyone know which makes are more generously cut? Have just bought one pair from Cut4Cloth but they were expensive and also they have a very limited choice.

DD2 has been mostly wearing dresses since I converted to cloth but as she is on the verge of crawling wanted to get her some trousers as I think they are more practical at this stage. The ones I already have won't fit over her lovely big bum !

BHS seen bigger round the bum, also George at Asda or Ladybird.

Jogging bottoms or leggings are good, also I think boys clothes tend to be cut a bit wider than girls, so if you want jeans boys ones might be better. They are tougher too.

I just used to pick up mine second hand from Scope or Oxfam. It's hit and miss. Often I would see a lovely pair of trousers but I knew they wouldn't fit! If they didn't have an elasticated waist then I wouldn't buy them.

You can also buy them for a bigger size and turn them up.

RottenRhubarbWitch · 26/10/2005 14:07

Agree jeans are usually a no-no!

JennyWren · 26/10/2005 14:10

I've bought some stuff from TinkerTogs. If you fill in the 'suggestions' bit they send you a 10% off voucher...

sweetkitty · 26/10/2005 15:13

I've found Tesco trousers are very good for cloth bums. A few I have bought are elasticated around the waist (like maternity jeans) so you can let them out or take them in.

monstrousmummy · 26/10/2005 15:15

I find h&m stuff quite good over cloth!

freakyzebra · 26/10/2005 15:16

Adams. NOT Ladybird (Woolies).

bonym · 26/10/2005 17:43

I feel a shopping spree coming on .

h&m are FAB... adjustable waist and really high in the rise to cover that big bum!

don't like tesco. well the cheapo ones aren't that great anyway

lauralou123 · 01/11/2005 16:30

In case your still shopping, wee greenies do really lovely little jeans. With poppers at the waist so they're really easy to get on. Every cloth bottomed baby should have a pair!

starlover · 01/11/2005 16:31

where are they fron?

lauralou123 · 01/11/2005 16:40

weegreenies.co.uk

Theres a little link to nappy trousers. I don't think there is a photo but when I got mine they said it was ok to return if you weren't pleased.

The picture looks a bit geeky but they are lovely really, and the only trousers that fit easily over nappies.

bonym · 01/11/2005 21:37

Went to H&M yesterday and bought 3 pairs of trousers! All fit beautifully, thanks STBHL.

Will look at weegreenies site now.

bonym · 02/11/2005 08:54

Thanks popsy - have just ordered some! I've had nappies from her in the past - excellent service - don't know why I didn't see the trousers before!

popsycal · 02/11/2005 19:13

they are quite new...only there in last few months. let me know what they are like as I am looking for some stuff for ds2

Skyler · 02/11/2005 19:21

Osh Kosh dungarees are good. I also bought cropped trousers in a bigger size for my dd and put them on her as full length trousers IYSWIM so the bum and waist bits were bigger but the legs weren't too long. Next trousers are hopeless.

bonym · 03/11/2005 15:13

popsy - trousers arrived this morning (such a fab website - they're always so quick - and I got a free bath bomb! ). They're ok - farily basic and thinnish cotton jersey. Don't know if I'd buy any more but they're fine - probably be better in warmer weather though as they're quite lightweight.

If any of you get a few mins to spare you could email some of these manufacturers and tell them how rubbish their clothes are, power to the people and all!
I had a nag a while ago, they might actually listen if more people did. Althou Next told me they did cut their clothing to fit all bums so maybe they'll fob everyone off.
Together we can change the world!!!!!!!!!

misdee · 03/11/2005 16:14

sainsburys do some trousers for 6pounds for 2 pairs. they fit well over cloth. they are like jersey joggers but have little patterns on them. they look like they have grippy knees lol.

starlover · 03/11/2005 16:16

mothercare have to be one of the worst... the waists on theirs are TINY! i think even on a disposable they'd be tight

misdee · 03/11/2005 16:16

agree starlover.

bonym · 03/11/2005 17:05

Yes - Mothercare are hopeless.
