Would I need a Double Pram????

Hi doing some research! We have just started TTC no2 and are wondering whether we will need a double pram. If I conceive within a few months our son will be 2/2.5. At that age will he still need to go in the pram or will a buggy board/seat be enough?

He is walking on reins now at 15months and goes in the pram as well and sometimes sleeps in the pram still.

Anyone been through this or in same boat with some advice please.

Thanks

Don't really buy the big baby thing for slings - mine were both big. I would say that most babies were manageable in slings for the first 3 months at least.

I would agree with bozza about waiting till you know what the gap will be.
If you can get on with a sling i really don't think you need a double if it's 2yrs or more.
My 2.5yr old walks everywhere now no problem.
If money is tight, think about NCT and other nearly new sales. I saw a BabyBjorn (my recommended slign) for £10 at a table-top sale the other day. Almost bought it myself it was such a bargain (!) but don't need it.....

Would suggest getting a second hand double. They generally get used less than a single because unless twins its only for the few months that both children need to be in one so probably a good second hand buy.

Although I am resigned to having to get a double of some kind - does anyone know of any company that does some sort of toddler seat that slots on pushchairs - if not there is a gap in the market!

I have a Jane Powertrack that wasn't cheap - and I am really loathe to put it away. Jane do a Powertrack twin but there isn't a conversion kit - to my knowledge. Anyone got any advice?

how about this?

Jersey, I'd say wait till nearer too. ds2 is 2 but needs a buggy, he is small for age and legs get tired. at mo i use buggy and sling.

monstrousmummy!! that is very interesting!! not seen that before. Dh is well impressed.

hotmama1 -- I thought jane did a todler seat. doesn't it not fit onto your model?

monstrousmummy had a look at your link and that looks like a good idea, will investigate nearer the time.

Thanks

I'd second the sling idea. I'm a few weeks pg, and ds will be nearly 2yrs 3mnths when this baby is born. We still carry him (at 19m) in a sling quite often. We had a Wilkinet to start with (until about 9m), and now have an Ergo. The Ergo can be used as a front carrier for a small baby, or a back carrier when they are older. It's fab around our town - narrow / no pavements, steep curbs, river running in a gulley down the side of the pavements.....

I think having the right sling for you makes all the difference. Never got on that well with the Baby Bjorn, but then I'm 5ft4 and dh is 6ft4 so we needed something that would accomodate us both

jersey · 15/11/2005 15:00

Well that was quick!!

DS will be 2yrs and 7 days if I deliver on my due date!!!

Is 2 old enough to walk/use the buggy board?

Many congrats jersey!!!!!!!

There is a gap of 2 years 12 days between our 2. We decided to leave double buggy decisions until after new baby was born, as we were keen to conserve cash if at all possible. The sling/buggy combination didn't really work for us, as DS was huge and it was so back breaking that it put me off getting out and about on my own with them both, so in the end we did get a double buggy. We bought new to get the sort we specifically wanted, but are really looking after it and plan to sell it next summer, when DC are 3 and 1 respectively! I think it's different for everyone though, I didn't feel that a buggy board would have the 'crowd control' factor of a double buggy, plus I'd heard too many stories about them struggling with curbs!
I'd wait and see what your DS is like walking-wise closer to the event, I think, before deciding anything.

congrates jersey..lol

I am due in 4wks now and am still glad to have the buggy as taking ds out he stil falls asleep a lot of likes to be in the pram. AS have said before you really need to wait and see how your little one is when you are due.
