OU hasn't got the courses I want, can anyone recommend an alternative please?

(Also in chat)

In a few years time, once we've moved back to France and DH has finished his studies, I would like to try to get into the School of Interpreters and Translators in Paris. So in the next few years I want to sort my languages out.

My spoken French is fluent, as is my reading, but my writing has suffered, so I'd like to do an advanced French course, degree level - the OU does this.

My German has suffered all round, so I think I need to do advanced intermediate and then advanced, also OK with the OU.

But I'd like to have a 3rd, slightly less common language, and for that I'd like to do Russian. From beginner to as far as I can get in a couple of years. The OU don't offer Russian at all.

As I'm looking just at languages I thought maybe I should try to find one place that can offer all of them.

I don't need certificates/degrees as I'll have to do entrance tests anyway, and I already meet the requirement for a degree. But I do think I would like to have the structure of having to submit work and do tutorials etc. Otherwise I'll just go on MN when DS is asleep instead.

Can anyone recommend somewhere that does correspondence languages? I can find some on google but I don't know whether they're any good or not.

Thanks very much!

I want to learn Japanese. The best way I have found to learn is to pay for a tutor and get some books to study at home.
www.uktutors.com/search/
I have found tutors on here who offer lessons on-line as well as my local area. I assume on-line it would be set up as some kind of video conference.
I won't be starting until next year as we need to get our finances sorted out.

I agree the OU doesn't offer enough in the way of languages, they should do more.

Sorry I can't help with courses, but what about looking at your local colleges? They might offer distance learning, I know one near me does and they also do evening classes.
