Using Pop-in nappies on smallest "setting".

We have used cloth nappies with DS1 since he was about 3 months, and recently bought some pop-in dream dri nappies to use with DS2, since the ones we used when DS1 was small were borrowed from a friend and we no longer have them.

The nappies claim that poppered down to their smallest size they are suitable for babies from 7lb. DS2 was a little early and not far above 7lb when he arrived so when we found they seemed rather bulky on him and leaked a lot we decided just to wait to use them until he was a little bigger. However, he's now 10lb - well into the suggested weight range, and I am still finding the same. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm using them wrongly - folding them the wrong way or something.

Has anyone used these successfully with a small (boy) baby. If so what boosters etc did you use and how did you fold them?

Yes we used them very successfully from 8lb onwards with tabs crossed. Although we used the bamboo version not the dream dri (microfibre) ones I don?t think the fitting should be too much different.

I do recommend using the dri night booster as a prefold with the cover (or any other cover like motherease rikki etc) as they fit very well on smaller babies.

Have you pre-washed the nappies a few times before using them? If not, the nappies may have not reached their full absorbency yet?

Yes, we used the nappies for a while with our older son, so they were well broken in before we used them for the little one.

We don't actually have any of the dri night boosters, only the soakers/boosters which come with the daytime nappies so that is what i've been using, but i've found that they're very bulky with all the boosters in and cosequently gape at the waist. Perhaps /i should buy some night time ones.
