Can anyone help? My DD's breath is really smelly - she cleans her teeth but in the child toothpaste which is strawberry flavoured and very sweet so sure her breath is just not being refreshed. She detests mint (i gave her a piece of chewing gum this morning to try to help, but she gagged on it - cruel mum i know but i'm convinced that she's going to lose all her friends and will be scarred for life....) I'm 34 weeks pregnant with number 2 and want everything to be as smooth as poss as she's had loads to deal with recently (I'm on crutches with SPD and can do little for her). HELP! before i blow this ouot of all proportion!!!!

6 pints a day !! You'll have to get a couple of cows in the garden ! Does he eat well generally ?

My DD is 28 months & has milk on cereal & then 8oz before bed. At nursery they give 'tea' which is milk & a snack at 3pm, so the 3 days she is there, she has a little extra.

DS1 can go days without eating really then eats like its going out of fashion. I was concernrd about this but as usual you get told they will eat when hungry.

All 3 of my boys love fruit and do eat this a lot (along with the milk)

Feels like it would be cheaper to hae a cow in the garden sometimes

Jambuttie, I am very surprised that your dentist & health visitor are fine with you giving listerine to your 3 yr old. I have been a dental nurse for 15 years & we have never recommended something so strong for a child so yound. Regardless of how much he uses.

You said in a previous post "Also as he sleep with his mouth open plaque becomes hardened onto teeth even though we brush them it wont remove it"

Does he have harded build ups on his teeth now? If so you are not removing all the plaque when you brush his teeth. Plaque is a soft off-white substance that clings to the teeth. Mostly everybody gets plaque, which can be removed by brushing. If it is not brushed off it will harden, this is then called calculus, more commonly known as tar tar.

It shouldn't be building up on a childs teeth, regardless of wether they sleep open mopunthed or not. I sleep open mouthed, as does my daughter & we do not get hardened build up, simply because all the palque is removed.

Once you have brushed his teeth before bed, does he still have milk after? If so you really need to stop this as he will be sleeping with a mouthful of plaque & will get cavities.

Having read your posts I would advise you change dentist IMO!

regardless of wether they sleep open *mopunthed or not.
