Anyone got any ideas how best to write up my findings for my dissertation? I have done a qualitative piece of research based on eduction and have then done thematic analysis with the data. I am then going to write it up using the headings from the themes that have reaccured. However, do I also put the inital research question that I am answering as a heading as well?

I take it you've already written the introduction, aims and methods? If so there's no need to rewrite the initial research question. A standard way of doing this is as follows - start the Findings section with a short paragraph stating what themes have emerged from your analysis; then move on to write about the different themes, using separate headings. After you have written about the themes move on to a Discussion of Findings (heading)and Conclusion (heading) and if it is an applied piece of research, Implications for Policy and Practice (heading) and finally, Limitations of the Study (heading).

Have you coded your research? My chapters kind of emerged through coding themes, so if that is what you mean by themes that have recurred then you are on the right lines. But definitely go over your ideas with you dissertation supervisor.

Do you mean that you have several research questions that you would address in each chapter? I would not put them as headings, but in the intro I would say something like 'In chapter 1, I shall be focusing on my research question of... etc.
