Personal space-how to get some!

I am at near (very near) irrational loon stage this weekend. Dp at work after being ill all week. Am a bit rubbish at functioning without a bit of time when no one can access me. I need to get better at it- new baby arriving later this year and ds bound to stop napping soon. Any tips for carving out a few hours Mins peace and quiet when children around and it's still hours til bedtime? If I escape to another room I am on tenterhooks as to when the chaos will ensue! Or failing that, any tips on coping better with zero personal space?

No advice but will be reading replies with interest :) I know how you feel, I really need - and don't get much - personal space too to remain calm and rational!

I used to take DD for a long (up to 2hrs) walk, plugging in to Radio 4 at the same time. It depends, though, if your older DC will stand being in the pushchair for half an hour or more.

I occasionally get into my bed and snuggle up with DD2 when we have a day on our own. She's really happy - we pretend to nap, read a story or I let her play on my phone. It works so well I don't know why I don't do it more often!

Now that DD2 is 3 I have found she loves making a den with blankets, then we snuggle down and she likes getting the play food and making me dinner, pretending to go out to shops etc. I just have to lie down the whole time, and have been known to fall asleep mid game... Blush

DS is pretty good in the car so I often regard the hour long drive to my friend's or parent's house as time to myself. he USUALLY stays quiet and I can almost forget he is there. When he was tiny he always slept as well so may resort to that when DC2 comes along!

Lock yourself in the loo with your laptop, biscuit and cuppa or whatever floats your boat. Amazing how refreshing those few mins can be! Grin

I have been known to get up at 5.30am and run a bath, just to have half an hour to myself. Luckily my DH usually puts Boy to bed if he's home so I get a bit of time then, even if its just peeling potatoes and tidying.
