I have applied to begin the above course part time starting september this year...

But i am also due to give birth around mid August.

The course is 2 mornings a week but it involves alot of work etc - childcare isnt a problem as my OH will be taking the 2 mornings / days off to support my studies. He is an absolute angel!

What i am worried about is weather it's possible to cope with beggining the course so soon after the birth with a brand new baby?

Has anyone acheived this? I guess i sort of know i can do it but would like reassurance from others who have been there that its not a silly waste of time :(

Hi! I started an HE access course when my DD was 21mths and my DS1 was 8 months. I took 3 modules and often worked through the nights on assignments as I was a single parent with little support at the time. In theory it could work out for you, as long as you don't go overdue and you have a straight forward birth - it takes time to get over a C-section! Also, I'm sure I don't need to tell you that being a new mum is VERY exhausting with baby waking every few hours through the night.
Would it be possible to explain your situation to the college so that if necessary you could start the course a little later or do some work from home if needed? These courses tend to break you in gently with the easier to grasp stuff first. I wish you the best of luck :)

Hi! I tried to Acess to nursing last september when my baby was 10 months old and the creche at my local college wouldn't take him until he was 12 months, but looking back i'm so glad i've had this time with him it's gone by so quickly, and i don't know how well i'd have coped with a big study load and a small baby. Have you tried adult or community education, it's part time flexible and usually has a free creche they do introduction courses city and guilds ECDL and clait. I personally found a couple of years of community education has prepared me for college in September, but everybody is different :). Good luck with your education and your baby x
