dd 23m, 94cm 17.5kg is a super soaker at night (and sometimes during the day). She wakes abt 3am every morning soaked through (takes a good hour typically to get her relaxed again and sleeping!) and she's typically soaked thru again in the morning around 7ish when she re-wakes. We've tried different brands, the doubling up - Part of the problem with doubling up is that it gets quite bulky and then she's uncomfortable and she also seems to get nappy rash more often (but around the leg not in her fanjo/butt area) I think from the rubbing on the leg- we've tried the cloth over the disposable (she's too big for the totsbots size2 we have now).
We've been cutting down her fluid intake, and we're down to 200ml breakfast, 150ml snack, 200ml lunch and 200ml supper but she apparently must have 350ml of milk for bed drink (or she doesn't go down and simply asks for more again and again and again until she becomes distraught and then takes even longer to settle) and then she won't settle again at 3 unless we give her more milk but I've managed to cut this to 250ml. I've been struggling to get it less than this on all accounts without tantrums, repeated questions for more, and even with distraction tactics it only puts her off a short time before it all starts again. (though I'm hoping to slowly cut down the amts still)

I'm tired. Both of getting up/resettling her. AND of having to do 2 loads of laundry everyday! (And the tantrums to be honest too.)

What more can I try?
Someone suggested using Hemp liners inside a disposable? Does anyone have any hemp liners? are they bulky?
What other ideas have worked for you? (if any)
Am I doomed to waking up at 3am every morning to change bedclothes? cuz I have another one on the way and I may just cry myself to sleep every night if that's the case.

Did you try a Motherease wrap over a terry/disposable, or a terry, a terry booster and the wrap?

bebemooneedsabreak · 04/03/2011 14:38

We tried the totsbots wraps..but not the motherease ones as we had got rid of them after initially trying and not liking them. (Found even at young age they pinched to tops of her legs)

We hadn't tried any terry as we went with bamboo with the totsbots as heard it was far more absorbent than terry/cotton?

I have a power piddling 25 month old and after about 20 months we had to use nappies specially designed for night time as he was just soaking through any other combination.

I use a mix of Wee Notions Night Notions (my total favourites), Holdens Landing Bed Bugs and Puddlekins Silent Nights. They are expensive but go the full 12 hours and never any leaks. They do whiff by the morning though Wink

A slightly cheaper option is to try a Nappies By Minki pocket. They are HUGE and you can stuff them full of just about anything absorbent, the more hemp and bamboo the better with a microfibre on top to help absorbancy.

Might be worth having a look on some pre-loved sites to see if you can pick one up cheap to try? Or there are some hire kit / trial schemes depending on where you live.

I shall have a look Cumbrianlass. Thanks.

I know I've said this before and am in danger of boring everybody but we have always used Terry nappies (including 75cm toddler ones) and plastic pants with all four of ours and have only very rarely had wet beds - even with DS1 who was nearly 7 before he was dry at night - and who stayed in nappies at night until he was 6.10.
When we have had wet beds it has been my fault for not tucking the nappy into the pants and so allowing wee to escape and wicking onto pj's and sheets.
