Do you cook for your baby/toddler?

My dd1 is 27 months and dd2 is 9 months. I cook for them all the time, try to buy everything organic etc. I normally freeze what I cook and give it to them within a month or so. (I can give dd1 what I cook for us but sometimes need to fall back on frozen stuff if we are having a curry or something)I have to cook once or twice every week to create some variety and I cook different meals for me and dh every day. I am just wondering if all this efford is for nothing as there is so much ornanic ready jars etc. around for babies and would like to ask for your advice if you think it is really worth cooking everything from sctratch. After all, I freeze what I cook anyway, it is not like I can give every meal fresh... i will start work soon so cooking will become a big chore... is it worth it???

Moondog- I know what you mean there is some pretty sugary stuff out there-
Ulker does organic stuff though and it is up to EU standards.
I haven't tried too many things so I am not too sure.
I am afraid this won't be a long and hard fight..

At least it's minced bollock and ear though, MD. You wouldn't want them whole. They'd not fit anything else in the jar and it would look like a marginally less tasteful version of the lizard in tequila you can buy!

Moondog- have you been to the Van lake yet? It is supposed to be great...

And what the hell are you doing there anyway?

well, i could fight about vat hair shoes but it would be a bit silly...

HyperMama · 20/10/2005 23:14

opps is apparently "spoon" spelt backwards- weaning spoon (use at 4 months- see hunkermunker for more info)
i was bored of oops as i've had the baby now and he is too lovely to be an "oops- we are having a baby" baby IYSWIM
so, noops is my new name- i think
and MEAT IS MURDER

I give dd exactly what we have but often she is a meal behind us due to naps and going to bed before we have dinner etc.

I have done that since she started on meat etc which I think was about 8 months - used to liquidise it then though with a braun hand blender v. easy, now I just chop it up.

She has had curry, chilli, tacos, just whatever really, obviously she likes somethings more than others. She seemed to find baked red peppers and goats cheese somewhat unpalatable tonight but ate the rest of her meal so I don't really mind as long as she eats a little bit.

She is 19 months old.

Where I come from, they eat bollocks but they don't give it to children. Too much of a delicacy. It is like caviar. My mum used to buy it sometimes and begged me to try it. I never did and she got very upset, explaining how expensive it was and how much I am missing out. But then, where i am coming from, they eat deep fried pig brain. Gross !!!
