dream feed?

Just contemplating a dream feed and I have a few questions:

  1. Is it safe for a 4 week old?
  1. How long does the feed generally take?
  1. Do you burp your baby after a dream feed?

Thank you!

we always dream fed DD from fairly early on, at least 4 weeks i am sure. We FF so you should take that into account. I have no expeience of BF for a dream feed.

It usually took no longer than about 10-15 minutes and it was the only time we didnt burp her. She was literally asleep and burping her would just wake her up. It was also the only feed she didnt get wind from. Probably becuase she was relaxed and not guzzling iykwim.

Hope that helps.

Also interested in dream feeding, but baby doesn't seem to take enough when half asleep (I BF so can't tell for sure). A normal feed takes 40 minutes on both breasts, but when I tried to feed her at 10.30 without waking her probably she just fannied about on one breast, dropped off after 10 minutes and could not be persuaded to take the second. I woke her in the end and gave her a proper feed as there wouldn't have been any point putting her back to bed at that point.

Any experiences of dream feeding a BF baby? Is it possible?

this might be better posted in breast and bottle feeding. :-)

I dream feed my ebf 14 week old DD. She hardly stirs except to change breasts! It was about 10 weeks when she stopped waking fully, she just latches on and away she goes. I never burp her, just pop her back in her moses basket, and shes fine. It actually slightly quicker than a normal feed as shes not distracted, so about 20 minutes.

I usually do it as I go to bed so I get a nice uninterupted stretch of sleep.

Good luck!

Try changing your DC's nappy before. This is what I do with my DD and I find that she then takes a bit more but still goes straight back to sleep when i put her down again.
