I'm not really sure how you would convert as one is weight and the other vol but I think 1ml might be 0.001 mg.

Hope someone with more info comes along.

MooM00 · 02/03/2011 14:30

I think 1ml of water weighs 1mg. So not a problem. If you ring NHS direct they will find out for certain.

OnEdge · 02/03/2011 14:32

How did you give it to her?

how can a syringe measure miligrams? it's a unit of weight, not volume Confused

greedychops · 02/03/2011 14:43

Put the same amount into the syringe, then squeeze it onto a spoon, and it will show you how much it is. But if it's a normal wee syringe specifically for medicines for children, then it will be 2mls that you have given her - we have very small ones that give about 2.5 ml, and bigger ones that can give up to 5mls.

Dumbledoresgirl · 02/03/2011 14:44

A teaspoon is about 5ml, and one of the standard calpol doses. How does the amount you gave her compare with that?

OnlyWantsOne · 02/03/2011 15:06

its the syringe from her oral dose of vit k

OP posts:
Spandangle · 02/03/2011 15:42

if the syringe is specifically manufactured to administer vit k then that 2mg reading is only relevant to vit k. Calpol will have a different amount of mg per ml. Like others have suggested -se water or something to draw up the 2mg measurement on your syringe - then dispense that onto a medicine spoon or another syringe to see how many mls of calpol you gave (the mg of active ingredient per 1ml of calpol is given on the box - but its easier to judge if you have over dosed by the ml volume you have given). Its unlikely you have used a large enough syringe to have done any harm.

Phone NHS direct or dr to be sure

OnlyWantsOne · 02/03/2011 18:47

hahahahaha it turns out that from this 2mg syringe i have DD about .25 of a 2.5ml dose. So practically a drop.

bloody fool

BertieBotts · 02/03/2011 18:49

Yeah I was going to say, Vit K syringes are tiny Grin

Glad it's OK.

MooM00 · 03/03/2011 09:44

Sorry a ml of water weighs a g not an mg so if you gave your lo 2mg it is a really really small amount.
