Not wetting himself, but big 'dribbles' IYKWIM!

ds is 3.5 and has been dry since 2.5, in the past month or so he has started really hanging on to his wee's and leaving it till the last minute. I can totally tell he needs a wee - holding it, riverdance type jig etc. But when I say do you need a wee he says no. So I literally have to remove him and take him to the loo. The leak is big enough to make his pants quite wet so he has to be changed. Sometimes 3 times a day.

I've tried speaking to him but he just says it was an accident and his willy leaked.

Any advice?

Wish I did have some advice. That is just like my ds and he is 5. He very rarely ever fully wets himself anymore but he doesn't really recognise the full bladder feeling. (At least if I see him jiggling and tell him to GO he will realise and rush to the loo). He just gets distracted and his bladder is the last thing on his mind. Some weeks are better than others. He's very tired at the moment (roll on half term!) and I know that's having an effect.

I think you just have to be strict and make him go more regularly. It sounds like going to the loo is a bit of a chore when he could be playing, watching TV, whatever so he leaves it til the last possible minute (plus a bit). Very common in boys, DS was like this at that age, and so were lots of his friends.

I know. Which is fine when I'm at home with him, but if he's at friends or nursery he comes home with stinky pants and I'm sure it can make a little sore on occassions.

What frustrates me is that it's a realtively new thing, so I know he is capable or realising when he needs to wee. Think he is just getting lazy. He comes up with great excuses, like 'it's not wee mummy, I jumped in a big puddle last week and it splashed on my pants'

I might go back to rewarding ds with stickers for getting to the loo on time.

ds went through a phase of this at around the same age. He did grow out of it .
