My sons get £1 a week and they are 8 and 10. The 10 yr old has to lay the table every day and feed the cats to get his and the 8 yr old has to keep their room tidy as he is usually the messy one.
10 yr old also has top gear magazine subscription which is £5 a month.
They don't really need anything so will keep the money in money box until they want to go the shop with friend to buy sweets.

My ds is 11 and at the moment he gets £16 a month (he chose to have £10 into his spends account and he saves £6... When he is 12 it goes up to £18 and £20 at 13, it then stays at £20 as he can get a paper round if he wants more, we did this with dsd too and she is almost 16 still on just £20, if she wants more se has to go and earn it!

I give ds £2.50 a day for school dinners and £3 towards bus fares, he pays for treats, cinema, skating himself

I found that paying it into a bank account where ds gets statements and can use a cash point card to access it rather than cash encouraged him to think about what he spends it on! Last week he had already planned ice skating for Sunday but his mate invited him to cinema on Friday so he realised he couldn't do both so wengvto cinema and didn't even think of asking me to sub him for ice skating! (I would have this time as he's been great around the house though!)

my boys get the same as their age x 10, so 8yo gets 80p. He does get the same from his dad as well.
I started at 5yo when he got £1 (we were still together then).
He doesn't have to do anything for it.
He also gets NG Kids, Kick! and Match of the Day mags on subscription via tesco clubcard vouchers.

My dds are 9.5 and 8 they get £1/week each. BUT we invariably forget to give it to them Blush They're not that bothered about it tbh. They do have a few chores to do but I don't like to connect the money to doing them.
