Nappy smelly in morning - is this normal!?

Back again after trying out night nappies for a couple of weeks........
Got a tots unbleached, huggle and some bumbles and the containment is not a problem - very pleased with that side of things. Have tried disana wool wrap and a stacinator. They are great and keep her lovely and dry its just that they both stink of ammonia in the morning. I knew that fleece could be a bit whiffy but was surprised at the wool wrap smelling after two wears (has been well lanolised). I washed it and tried again but had the same problem. I wouldnt mind but her sleeping bag reeks and I'm having to wash it every day.
(By the way, am making sure that the nappies have no soap build up).
Is this just the norm or has my dd got super strong wee!
I really would like to persevere with this but to be honest its putting me off.....

Hmmm... soap build up is all that made it better with us - an extra rinse with vinegar in it. No toher suggestions

Do the wraps smell when dry?

I know with some wool it naturally smells bad when wet even before you add urine to the mix (had a thermal top that stank when wet). It might just be worth airing rather than washing and see if that does the trick?

The wool wrap eventually lost the ammonia smell after airing for a couple of days. After the first night I used it it was fine and lost the smell after a few hours airing but the wee smell just seemed to build up to an unbearable level after a couple of wears, if that makes sense.
TBH I think its the nappies that are the cause of the problem - maybe they do still have a build up of detergent in them........its them that smell under the wrap - but only after prolonged time (12 hrs night).
I haven't been adding vinegar to the rinse lately - would that help.
Mind you the nappies are virtually new and I use only a very small amount of persil non bio.
Maybe its just me {sad}

Have you tried rinsing out your night nappies under the cold tap? I got terrible stinky nappies after a while (I just use bumbles at night) and found running the nappies and boosters under the tap in the morning before putting them in the bucket helped.
