Working part-time: the perfect balance?

After talking to a friend about this (she works 4 days, I am a SAHM doing a bit of work from home), we seemed to come to the conclusion that working 2 or 3 days a week would be the perfect balance between home and work: not too busy, still lots of time with DCs, still having stimulation of work.

Would people agree with this? Is there anyone (whether WOHM/SAHM or whatever) who feels they have a good (or even perfect!) balance between work and home? Or would you rather be doing something else if you could?

I REALLY don't mean this to be a debate - just a sharing of experiences... TIA! :)

I work 3 days a week and its fantastic. I have grown up, stimulating (kind-of) working part of the week and still have 4 days with my babies. It's perfect for me.

I work full time which is frankly shit.

I do find however, when I work mornings but take the afternoons off (due to working extra at the weekend) that this works well. Otherwise I can never quite get myself up and out into the world and have too many lazy days. On these days I'm up and have already left the house so come home raring to do things.

If I could work part-time I'd probably do more half days spread out across the week rather than getting it out of the way (if I lived in a perfect world of course)

I do 3.5 days, with the half day from home. Dh works 4 weekdays, and doesn't start till the afternoon - so DS2 only spends 12 hours in childcare, and DS1 6 hours (after school)

My work would probably like me to work full time, but I don't plan to increase my hours until DS2 is at school full time - and those extra hours will be from home. I am very lucky that I work in a sector where, for the most part, there is a good attitude towards flexible working, also a lot of jobs are part time anyway.
