Hair washing

DH is having trouble washing DD (19 months)'s hair, with rinsing and it going in her eyes, causing a lot of upset.

Can anyone recommend either a hat thing, or a shampoo that would help? Not keen on lots of chemicals if it can be avoided.

Thanks. :)

Do you need to do it? Why not just leave it until you have to as a first resort.

Secondly, have you tried doing it while you're in the bath with her?

you can get a visor thingy to help

here

or here

or funny jugs

What about a pair of swimming goggles? Think there is also some sort of cap thing on the market that has a wide brim to stop water going in eyes. Not sure what it is called though.
The goggles worked well for us.

There used to be this disc thing that would go over the hairline and stop the water on the face - can you still get them?

With mine, I used to only fill the bath a little so they could lie down flat and then I would scoop the water over their hair.

Or could he wrap her in a towel and put her over his knees with head over the bath?

Disc thing any good? Anyone used one?

I found all the gadgets more hassle than they're worth - I went for the massive jug of water straight over the head approach - shampoo is gone too quickly to get in eyes. Was a shock at first but she got used to it quickly.

Tried it (jug thing), screaming ensues.

Will try a disc thing.

Any ideas for shampoos?

Have you tried the laying back in bath thing? My DD won't lay on her back in water but works a treat for my friend.
DSD is afraid of water on face so hugs a flannel to face.

We found the Burt's Bees baby shampoo & body wash good (has a no tears formula & is based on natural ingredients) - DD is still using it even though she is no longer a baby. Normally sold in Boots (maternity/baby section) and Waitrose.

Usually try to get her to tilt her head back while we rinse with a small jug (or shower attachment) - unusual for anything to get in her eyes now.

As a child I found everything stung - eventually resorted to a damp flannel folded over, held tightly over my eyes.

She won't lie on her back unfortunately.

Oooh, I'll try BB, thanks Karen. Is it expensive?
