How often is your 5 yr old girl in tears?

Because ours weeps at least 2 or 3 times a day, mostly when she has just got up or before bed (hence tired) but also randomly in the middle of the day if I even vaguely tell her off .

It's ever so slightly annoying, and I have to admit when I hear the 'Muu-uu-uuuuummy' start it makes me want to hide in teh garden. Even if it's raining.

mine can be like this, not every day. she cries often if she isnt getting her own way! yes, it gets on my nerves SO BAD! and funny you should say that, because i have locked her in the garden before now!!

It's the fallback on weeping that is so irritating, isn't it?
DH has just come home for luncha dn then gone back to work. DD1 starting crying just after he left saying she missed him. WTF am I supposed to do about that?
And I just told erh to stop biting her nails and she is now crying next to me saying she bites them as she is disturbed by the sun coming in the windowHmm

Mine cries everytime her little sister annoys her. Which can be many times a day. And she cries when I ask her do do something she doesn't want to (like get dressed, brush her teeth, put her shoes on). The sound of her whine/cry flares my temper like nothing else can. I want to be patient but it's a huge effort and often I fail.

I've had to talk with mine (nearly 5) about alternative ways she can express herself, otherwise she doesn't seem to get that there are other options!

So if she whines something at me, I explain that she can just talk to me in a normal voice, and demonstrate it to her. It's sinking in slowly, but she still gets very stroppy these days rather than crying.

oooh, it sets my nerves on edge!!

artichokes, yy at the flaring of temper. Honestly, nothing gets me more likely to shout than her starting a whine.

DD2 was just standing between her and the tv. tears. Not 'please can you move dd2' just instant full blown dramatics.

I do say 'I cannot understand whiny voice or baby voice. Please talk to me in a normal voice or I ca't hear you' which does seem to be working as I can just say 'I can't hear you' and she stops. Most of the time.

DD2 always makes a point that she isnt crying when DD1 is hysterical, so at least I will only have to deal with one.Grin

yes, i tell mine repeatedly that she should use a proper voice etc etc..it's good to here that others are like this - you start to think you raised a whiner, dont you?!! i start to think I spoil mine and thats why she is like it. maybe we just expect too much from 5 year old?
