For the first time ever he cried when the nursery worker passed him to me and held his arms out to go back to her Sad...Wine

I know i'm being a pleb and i shouldn't get upset, but corr i literally felt my heart shatter and had to make a quick exit so they couldnt see my eyes start to water!...Wine

At least you know he enjoys nursery!

What a great job you've done picking a nursery where your ds makes such a good bond with the staff! Smile Don't cry - he has only one mum and he loves you.

OnEdge · 18/02/2011 22:53

oh dear, that is tough, they can really hurt you can't they. I heard my DD3 saying to my Mum that she didn't like me. I had a huge lump in my throat and had to fight back the tears. It turns out that she meant she didn't like it when i came to collect her and she was having fun.

I bet this was all that happened to you today. They just see us as kill joys.

Kids find handovers a bit stressful and get their wires crossed sometimes.

Some children howl (for about 2 minutes) when they're left in the morning and they're the same ones who wail when mum or dad arrives to collect them.

It's just the handover.

makesmeskinny - bring it up when he's older whenever he asks for new trainers/new bike/new car etc etc....it will be fun :)

He's just been having a nice time all afternoon and didn't want it to stop, that's all. Don't be upset. Like SueW says, at least he enjoys it! :)

My ds went through a spell of always crying when I picked him up....he used to cry and ask to stay at nursery for lunch....I think he just didn't like the fact he wasn't doing the same as everyone else. Sometimes he says he doesn't want to go to nursery, sometimes he doesn't want to go to shops, park, grannies (all things he loves) and then it will all start again because he doesn't want to come home! Dont take it personally, another time he'll only want you and no one else-depends on their mood

My dd's done this a few times. But I found it loads more upsetting when she went through a phase (after we'd been on holiday) for two weeks of crying hysterically when I dropped her off at the childminders on a morning.

FlouryBap · 21/02/2011 16:47

My second cried when she saw nursery for 6 months! and when I picked her up. thank god she wasn't my first. now she has got use to it (but I am giving up work and taking her out!)
