Is it time to ditch the Phil & Teds?

I have a 4 month old and a 23 month old. I went through everything everyone said about transporting the two of them and bought a second hand Phil & Teds. The problem is that I find it really heavy (both kids on 91st percentile, I'm a size 8). Plus, the nanny is elderly and big DD wants to "woth" everywhere.

Would you recommend we ditch the double buggy for the Kid Sit? DD is too young for just a buggy board and gets tired/starts running off. We already have a Maclaren and a Bugaboo Bee. I need to be v sure before I buy any more contraptions to transport them. What do you recommend?

I don't know, you probably need ot go somewhere and have a try at pushing osme others around teh shop with both dcs in. I don't imagine that you'll find another double any less heavy than a P&T, it is just one of those things when you have 2 that need transporting.

Have you checked the tyre pressure. I often find if my phil and teds is slightly deflated then it feels heavy.
When pumped up well I can push it no problems. My older DS has stopped using it now but last summer I had a 16kg boy and 10kg child in it and I could still push it easily.

I had a very light double maclaren but with 2 kids in it really is heavy. You may not find a solution you like but try loads in shops.

Sling plus single push chair til DD1 is ol enough for a buggy board? My DS is getting on for 8 months and is still fine in the sling weight wise

agree about the tyre pressure, mine are a bit deflated at the moment and it is a real pain to push but when they are fully pumped its fine. i wouldnt ditch it yet personally at that age, if you're still gonna be needing something to transport them both in then it will be quite heavy regardless?

I tried a side by side double and a phil and teds and found the phil and teds much lighter to push because of the large wheels. Also, with a side by side I felt it was awkward because it was heavier on one side than the other. Another plus I liked with the P&T was the ability to push it one handed, I couldn't manage that with some single pushchairs let alone the double.

Definitely check your tyre pressure, it makes a huge difference.

Otherwise I think the suggestion of a baby sling plus single pushchair is probably the best way to go, double pushchairs are just heavy to push.

pump the tyres make all the difference. I'm considering dumping mine after the summer as they are 4 and nearly 2! I do walk nearly everywhere and I find the second seat very handy for putting the shopping

Ooooh, thanks so much! My DH is on the case with the tyre pressure tomorrow... I'm so wary of buying any more pieces of utter rubbish. I hate slings by the way. Never have coped with a baby strapped to me!!
