swimming with a cold

Hi all

This is probably a no-brainer question, but since starting nursery our 6 month old has had a constant runny nose - we know it's pretty standard and expected, and we're not stressing.

HOWEVER, we really want to take our little girl swimming - is it a complete no-no when your little one has the sniffles? We're just worried that we're going to have to wait indefinitely and it would be great to get her used to the pool as soon as possible.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance!

It would depend on what you mean by a cold - if she just has a runny nose, then I'd happily take my 9 month old to the pool. If she had a temperature and was unwell as well, then I wouldn't. Like you say, at her age, in winter, they always have runny noses!

If DS has the sniffles, or any kind of normal cold, but is generally happy, we take him swimming - the pool is warm, and if anything it seems to make him feel a bit better.

If he has a fever, a cough, or is ill and miserable, we give it a miss.

He has been going since he was 12 weeks, and that's the advice we were given at the pool.
