Hippy chick mattress protectors

Hi! I did have a waterproof mattress cover on my sons bed, but with all his wriggling about the waterproof top has peeled away. Any way I am in the position where I need to change it and am currently contemplating buying the Hippy Chick cotton protectors, and am wondering has anyone any experience of these? They appear on the adverts to lie over the top of the sheet, but doesn't get tucked in. Surely this would move under a wriggly wee boy and end up being of no use! I don't particularly like the plastic/pvc waterproof covers as they are very sweaty! Any advice will be most welcome! Ta

I use the Pampers bed mats under DS's matress. They stay in place, out of sight, soak up pee rather than it pooling on top of plastic sheet, not as sweaty as rubber or PVC.

Puppy training pads are basicly the same aren't big enough to tuck in.

Yes I know this is a dissposible solutions but DS rarely has accidents now so they last for ages.

Kiddicare blurb says under or over sheet. Good price, seems a good option for regular wetters if you don't want disposible.

Dive daisy, having used those style of protectors that go on top (not a hippy chick but the boots own and mothercare own) i DO find that they wriggle and if they wet miss the mat.

I find its LESS likely IF you put it under the sheet rather than on top so its 'held' in place more, but eve so if they are lieing on the edge of the bed it doesnt ALWAYS get it all.

so if you want to guarentee your matress wont get wet these style things are not the ones to go for

(this probelem doesnt occur with dispoabale pampers bed mats as they 'wrap around and tuck in')

I use one under the sheet. vey effective and breatheable so not hot and sticky. They wash well too. Can highly recommend.

Thanks for all you words of wisdom. It seams in the end it will be a case of hit or miss (excuse the pun!!) when deciding what to go for!! Maybe thinking of using it on top but adapting it with sewn on ties to hold in place!!

Hi every one! I have gone out and bought the hippychick protector and will try it our tonight. Last night when tucking him in I thought his nappy hadn't held all his pee cos he was soaking.... with sweat! Poor wee mite. So maybe/hopefully this will make things more comfy!
