So how did your life change once your youngest started school? And what did you do with yourself?

Just asking as I was getting very upset earlier about my DCs moving towards independence and wondering what the hell I am going to do with my time from Sept. I do work but only 2 days a week and in current job there is no scope to do more.

Did anyone find this a hard transition? I am feeling very conflicted about the whole thing.

Other peoples stories will help me here I think. Spill please Grin

I got a job in a totally different area to what I was doing pre children.
I was so happy to doing something other than look after children- after 8 years I was getting bored, and questioning my own identity.
I work term time so that is brilliant.

I have no advice nikki but I dread this already and my DC's are only 3.8 and 14 months!

Do you like going to the gym/running/walking or cycling?

This IS something im looking forward to.

I also plan to make sure I meet my old friends and new mum friends for coffee's etc as I don't want to disapear into the house in a little rut..

I guess im thinking about it now becuase in a few months we are moving to the countryside from the city so Im scared im left forgotten about!

ds2 started last Sep, nothing much has changed really - other than the juggling of my life has got slightly easier.
I work 9am - 2pm 4 days a week.
And I get a day off to myself a week - bliss.

DD started school last Easter. It was very strange as she was my third, and for a while I was quite sad about it. However I was just finishing off an OU course so I didn't have that much time to think about it! I hadn't given up work, just went very PT after having my second, but I did start to feel I wanted to do a bit more. I applied for a couple of other jobs but didn't get them, then a really good job which uses my OU qualification came up and I got it. I started at the beginning of this year and am loving being more than just a mum again IYSWIM. It is a lot more demanding than the job I did when I had pre-schoolers, and although it is still PT (so I see the kids) it is more hours and better money. I was broody again when she first went to school, but now I am loving my new life!
