Would your 10yo return a courtesy?

DS1 had a friend to tea tonight, lovely boy and very well behaved. Ate all his tea too.

When the boy first arrived (dh had collected them from school) I asked "you alright J ?" Blush J replied "yes thank you, you?"

I guarantee DS1 would not have haved his friend's mum how she was? Have I failed terribly or is that normal for a 10yo?

My DS is 9 and DD 10, neither they or their friends do this and they are all generally well behaved and polite (in other people's houses anyway Wink)

So long as your ds would have said "yes, thank you", that's fine.

Mine does the "and you" thing; but it is just a verbal habit rather than extraprdinary politeness. He was asked by a friend of mine (forties) if he had had a good term at school. His reply was "yes thank you, and you?" which was a bit daft
