No sleep!!

My DS (10mo) has slept through the night, barring illnesses, from 11 weeks old. But for the last 2 weeks he has stopped!
He wakes up at 2am and every 1/2 an hour after that.
DH and I are taking it in turns to get up, reassure him, but we are soooo knackered now.

So far -
I have given him night feeds.
Given him more to eat at supper time.
Attempted controlled crying (not so good for our neighbours)
Moved his bedtime back

What is going on???? Confused

Well I really am no expert as I have a 9 month old and can count on one hand the number of nights she has slept through, but is he teething at the moment? If so, maybe some Calpol (or similar) at 2am will help him to have another decent stretch of sleep.

Alternatively, have you tried bringing him in bed with you? Not everyone's cup of tea but might mean you all get a bit more sleep.

Good luck! Hope this phase is short lived. Smile

could be teething...

also at this age, they are developing a mile a minute (crawling, cruising, on the way to walking....)and their brains are on overdrive alot of the time.

I coslept with my two so I would recommend that...anything that works....

Thank you,
We do bring him into bed with us but I get no more sleep as he comfort sucks on me and I find it impossible to sleep.
A few weeks ago his first two teeth came through so it may well be to do with that but he doesn't seem distressed by them at all during the day and I'm reluctant to give him calpol unless absolubtly nessecary.

Not sure what could be waking him so often, other than teething as already suggested. My DS also slept through the night from around 11/12 weeks and the only thing that ever woke him after that during the night was teething or illness. Like your DS, mine never seemed that bothered by teething in the day time (too many other distractions I think) but at night he often cried. If you think it might be teething you could try homeopathic treatments ie teething powders etc. But if I was you I wouldn't worry about giving calpol - I used to feel the same way as you about medicine, that it was somehow "bad" to give it to my DS, but if there's any chance he is in pain from his teeth then in my opinion it is "necessary" to soothe the pain if you can. Calpol is not bad for babies in any way (as long as you stick to the right doses etc of course!) and it is much better for them (and you!) if they are soothed and calm and able to sleep. Good luck!
