Is your child like you personality-wise?

Just thinking, how the hell did DD(7) end up so different from me. Single parent and hardly ever sees dad so he's not an influence, but she is totally up for doing stuff like going up to shop assistants and asking where stuff is, going up and asking for tomato sauce in cafes, is pretty extrovert really, sometimes embarassingly so Grin Now when I was small I was painfully shy, remember being too shy to say thank you to relatives for pressies, too shy to even speak a lot of the time. I am a lot better now but still pretty insecure and quiet but DD seems totally opposite - I am obviously very thankful she is like this but it must be outside influences!!

My DD is almost exactly like me but without all the parental pressure to "be ladylike" and all that stuff. I am determined not to crush her exuberance and happy little nature. Perhaps you've also taken a similar approach and she's more like the little girl you might have been?

Apologies if that's way off - just a thought.

My DS who at 14 months is already like me.....my life is going to be hard Grin Although he does have some personality traits of his dad. My mum is forever laughing at how much like me my DS is but then adds 'but he actually listens and stops unlike you, you just did your own thing and never listened to anyone'
Why oh why could he not be more like his laid back dad. I am dreading the teenage years as I was a right horror and have only just started to calm down and grow up now at 38!!

DH often says that DD is the image of me behaviourly. She is noisy and opinionated, but unlike me she is very senstitive and kind.

Dd is like my mum, not at all like me. Ds is like me in some ways but in many ways more like my brother, who again is not at all like me.

I was a nightmare child, I wouldn't go out when it rained , refused to drink white medicine whenever it was prescribed . Ate the same thing for packlunch everyday for the whole of my primary school and there are many others....

DS2 is very similar to me so am having to be fairly strong with him as I am so scared of him turning into me ...

DS1 however is the most chilled out dude and takes after dh totally.

DS is really like me-the good and bad parts. Think this is due partly to me being a single parent, and partly to the face that his dad was very similar personality-wise to me. So either way he's stuffed!

DS is just like his father (who has not lived us or regularly seen DS from 6 months), whereas DD is a mixture of me and DH's Mum. She is only 11mths and is extremely bossy (to her brother) and her Dad!
