Come tell me the pros and cons of having 3 DC's...

We currently have 2 DS's age 1 & 3 and today I have been daydreaming about having a 3rd DC. Not quite yet but maybe this time next year as we would need to wait for DS1 to start school due to childcare costs.

What are the good / not so good things about having 3 DC's?

Or if you have 3 or more already do you wish you stopped at 2?

Thanks :)

Hmmmmm.....mine (8.5, 3.5 and 2) are constantly bickering and fighting and never shut up...and the youngest just does not sleep. or eat. or talk (always shouting), the middle one has developed selective deafness and a chippy attitude to rival Kat Moon and the oldest is, and always has been very high maintenance, so I'm a bit low on good points at the minute! and we are really struggling to get a car (that we can afford) that fits us all in; our last two holidays have had us taking two cars as it's cheaper to use one as a mobile shed rather than buy a roof box!

Individually they are all gorgeous; sweet, funny, loving and happy. As a mob they drive us round the bloody bend.

Wouldn't have it any other way though Hmm

Thanks Crispy, one of my worries was the car situation. How to fit 3 car seats in?!

Any other views?

Car problem is easily sorted. Just buy a 7-seater such as Ford S-Max. Fab car with plenty of space.

Age gap and personality type seems to be more of a factor than numbers alone, but every family is so different.

I have 3 under 5 and when they are good they are really cute and I like having a bigger family group, but when they are bad or ill...watch out! I find that people don't like to look after all three at the same time and we struggle to get any time out at all (weekends are not ever a break - no family to help). Schools runs are complicated at the least!

I wouldn't change it they are absolutely gorgeous, but equally I wouldn't do it again if I had the choice! Your age gaps are a bit more manageable, so at least two years again would probably be a good idea I reckon! If you want to and you have enough energy/support then go for it!

We love the Toyota Corolla Verso, lots of space & flexibility, but nice to drive without that tank feel/appearance.

I always thought 3 is not such a good number but looking at mine I now feel that it makes for more interesting dynamics between the kids. Grin

DC1 will be able to help you (and feel like a really big kid) with DC3 by the time it arrives, so that can be cool.

I always imagined myself with four children too maryz (one of 4 myself).....until the harsh reality of three hit me!

We have B,G,B and the dynamics work quite well, as DD being the only girl and middle child means she is less likely to feel any "middle child syndrome" (I hope anyway, but I guess that's down to our parenting)

DS2 unfortunately didn't just slot in here as he had hideous colic and is only now at 26months reliably sleeping all night.

I do feel for DS1 a lot as there is 5 years between him and DD and only 17 months between DD and DS2 so he is often left out as the younger two gang pair up against him. He also had to vacate his biggish bedroom so that the little ones could share. What will happen when they're teenagers is anyones guess as we only have three bedrooms and can't afford to move or extend so when DD needs her own room, the boys will have to share and with 6.5 years between them I can't see it being a popular decision with DS1!

Saying all that though, I still wouldn't be without any of them.....manic Grin
