License to Brag - A small thing that made you proud of your DC(s) today.

Today my DS (4.4) went to the toilet, finished the toilet roll, put the empty roll in the bin, got a new one from the cupboard and put it on the holder, without being asked and without me in the room.

Also, my DD (2.0) counted up to 12 for the first time - she's been counting to 10 for a while and I never bothered trying to teach her any further so I was quite surprised.

I know they're only small things but they made me proud and make this whole parenting lark worthwhile Grin

What little things have your DC(s) done today to make you proud? Not big things like taking first steps or passing an exam. Little things that you wouldn't normally tell anyone about but now have an excuse to.

lol at the best mummy so far.

DD ran to get an ice pack for DS when he bumped his head. And brought him a teddy to cuddle as he lay whimpering on my knee.

DS ate the top of the fish pie. Doesn't sound like much, but is great for him as he is quite a fussy eater. We are doing the 15 fork rule.

DD's friend has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (they are 9) DD goes with her friend at lunchtime to keep her company while she does her bloods, and gives up her playtime.

dd (2) sat and listened to stories and played with her sticker book for 45 mins in the gp's surgery today without making any noise or kicking off. V proud of her (also it was a shocking contrast to last time!)

These have all made me cry! What lovely children we have. Smile
dd (8 hrs) sat on the floor and made silly faces at ds (9months) when he was crying as I was getting dinner sorted and couldn't pick him up. He started giggling.

DS (12) came home with a headmaster's award for

'generosity of spirit'

( bought a new boy a rugby ball and got the class to sign it a few weeks ago)

My 7 year old went back in to the Beaver hall unprompted to say thank you to the leader because he'd had a great time!

DS2 (21 months) sat still in a coffee shop long enough for me to actually finish a coffee and cake.

DS1 (nearly 4) sang a medley of nursery rhymes to DS2 to cheer him up when he was crying about having his nappy changed (it worked!).

What a lovely thread, I've filled up too!

Ds2 (3.2) came home from pre-school yesterday with a picture he'd drawn of a person and it actually looked like a person. It had a face with eyes, nose and a smile, a lovely big tummy, and legs with feet and shoes. It didn't have arms but I think they're over-rated anyway!

I was so shocked and proud, he'd only ever scribbled before.

my ds who in nursery this horrid and undertrained teacher though ds was unable to read or write, unable to make friend and was to quiet and had autisum, had just been classed as gifted with his reading and is the most outspoken and chatty child ever. Shows what not being under her care can do!!
Well done!!!!!!!!!!!

putthekettleon · 02/02/2011 21:59

I put DD2 (7 months) in her cot awake and she fell asleep on her own - no crying, just a few minutes of quiet chatting to herself.

In your face MIL: "you're making a rod for your own back feeding her to sleep, she'll never learn to do it on her own..." Grin

AKMD · 03/02/2011 12:35

Awww, these are all so cute (except for putthekettleon which just makes me Envy). Oh go on then, that one's alright too.

DS (11mo) had no-nappy time yesterday afternoon and did not poo on the carpet, although he did look rather proud as he weed (is that a word?!) on Happy Dog, Sad Dog.
