DS 14weeks waking up with blocked nose

He doesn't have a cold, but very regularly wakes up with a blocked nose. Makes feeding very difficult and is distressing for him.

He is being mixed fed so start off with that and hold a small pot of tiger balm under his nostrils at the same time - he doesn't seem to mind.

I think the problem may be the central heating so i have been sleeping with the window slightly open but it gets so cold i end up shutting it in the middle of the night.

to relieve his blocked nose i have held him over a steaming basin and held him up to the window so he can breathe in some cold air.

He is fine as has had 5 or 6 good sneezes... what can i do to stop it recurring or help him when it does reoccur - as it has been regularly....
thanks!

Hi

My DD is 6WO and had suffered with a stuffy nose on and off since week 1, she originally had a cold but now gets a stuffy nose in warm environments. We use Saline drops when it gets bad. My sister also gave me some vapour drops called Baby Nose-Clear - (we put a few drops in warm water in a cup and put it on the radiator) both from the chesmist and both work well.

I have not found anything that stops it, apart from a cooler room but its difficult to get the balance right between not too warm and not too cold.

Luckily it does not seem to bother DD when she has a stuffy nose. Hope you find a solution soon.

I don't know about long term solutions but the calpol saline nasal spray was fantastic for clearing my lo's nose when she had a cold. There were some mega big bogeys in that tiny snout!
